Tiffany Jackson Wants Audible Customers to Know They’re Making an Impact

“When I tell friends that I now work at Audible, the first thing they do is open the app on their phones and share their libraries with me,” says Tiffany Jackson, who joined us last year as our Head of Social Innovations. The second thing they do is ask what her new role means. That’s when she explains that she helps to support Audible's mission to make a positive impact in the cities we call home.
Drawing on her 10 years of experience growing impact initiatives for Fortune 100 corporations and nonprofits, Jackson is leading a strategy to globally scale and replicate our programs designed to make a positive impact by investing in our neighborhoods, developing opportunities for youth and fostering the next generation of storytellers. This includes initiatives like our emerging creator programs, Future Leaders internships and more. She’s also collaborating with passionate, dedicated colleagues throughout Audible to create even more ways to leverage our business to drive social impact.
Jackson is excited to see the positive effect her work has on our local communities, and she likes to remind her friends that they’re a part of that, too. “I thank them for being an Audible member, and I tell them that by simply listening, they are supporting our work all over the world.” Get to know more about her and her team’s focus below.
What is something you believe is essential to succeeding as a leader?
I’ve always believed that it’s not just what you lead, or what you accomplish, but how you lead. There are many different leadership styles, but the one I’m constantly inspired by is the concept of servant leadership. It’s about putting the needs of others before your own and using your influence to empower and uplift those around you. Too often, people believe that their own goals are at odds with the interests of others. When we practice servant leadership, we are saying, “I can achieve everything I want by ensuring that you achieve everything you want.” At the end of the day, servant leadership is about leading with humility, compassion and a genuine desire to make a positive difference.
What’s something you’re proud to have accomplished in your current role?
One of the things I’m particularly proud of in my short tenure at Audible is the work we have led to evolve and enhance our programs for emerging creators. These creators are early in their careers or have been working hard to break into a competitive industry. Audible knows that creators are the soul of the audio storytelling industry, so we ensure they have strong pathways to grow their success. Programs like the Emerging Playwrights Fund and the Audible Indigenous Writers’ Circle, as well as this year’s collaboration with the Sundance Institute on our Audio Storytelling Intensive, create meaningful opportunities for storytellers to develop and share their stories.
What makes Audible a distinct place to work?
I always admired Audible for its commitment to community. When I learned of the company’s People Principles, it became clear to me why Audible has such a commitment. I think that’s what makes Audible different: there is a deep respect for our principles, and we each are empowered to embrace and bring those principles to life each day. For example, I’m inspired to “Articulate The Possible & Move Fast To Make It Real,” which allows me to challenge the status quo and operate with urgency to bring my team’s ideas to life. It’s exciting, and I’m looking forward to all the good work we will accomplish this year and beyond.
