Gregg Bettis, a man full of passion for people and God’s kingdom, grew up in Walnut Creek, California, and has been married to his wife, Janell, since 1974. They are the proud parents of their daughter Kaylene and son-in-law Bryan, and grandparents of Amy Grace. Gregg studied the Old & New Testaments at Ecola Hall Bible School in Cannon Beach, Oregon, in 1972, and the following summer he sensed his call to Christian Camp Ministry while serving at Miracle Ranch Christian Camp near Seattle, Washington. He received his bachelor’s in Christian Camping and Recreation Administration with minors in Bible and Christian Education from Biola University. He loved teaching camping courses there and served as a “Mountain Minister” guiding extreme adventure trips with Summit Bound. He studied for a Master of Divinity & Counseling at Talbot and Denver seminaries and became an ordained evangelical minister in 1986 while serving as Elder of Family & Youth at Cherry Creek Presbyterian Church. He served as Denver Area Youth for Christ Campus Life Director for eleven years and in the President’s office of Youth for Christ/USA for four years. Being called to the beautiful Ozark Mountain town of Branson, Missouri, he loved serving as president at Kids Across America Kamps in Branson since 1997 until accepting a kind offer to serve as assistant to the president of Kanakuk Ministries in 2016. Every dream he has ever had has been fulfilled through these two ministries where kids and families continue to come and experience the best summers of their lives! As an early member of Christian Camping International, Gregg has had the privilege of serving and helping to plant and build camps, reach out with Christ’s love to kids, and build dynamic Christian leaders from across America, Canada, and around the world through Christian camping. He also became an instrument, multi-engine, commercially rated aircraft pilot typed in high-performance turbine jet engine aircraft so he could travel the country efficiently and safely to spend quality time as a “stewardship minister and connector for the kingdom,” with caring friends who have tremendous hearts to support far-reaching ministries. Focused on edifying others, he continues to always be planning the next daring adventure and sharing his deep love for God. His love for Janell, his parents, Kaylene, Bryan, and Amy Grace, along with his zest for life and meaningful connections give him purpose each and every day.
