Michael Mulcahy is a writer born and bred in Northern New Mexico. His debut novel, Brothers in the Night, explores the many faces of external oppression - class struggle, race, violence and war - while also diving deep into the trauma bonds within - love, regret, family. All on the canvas of the American West. He calls his literary genre Norteño Noir. Norteño referring to the fertile culture and deep history of Northern Mexico smeared across his work. Noir indicating the dark yet accessible threads in his fiction - fractured men, barren landscapes, a world less understood. Writing in a style that is spare, visual, and unflinching - he’s drawn comparisons to Cormac McCarthy, David Joy, and Dennis Lehane.
