A Little Independent

By: Ryan Buck and Todd Burnaska
  • Summary

  • A Little Independent is a movie podcast hosted by two lifelong movie-lovers sharing their love of independent, obscure, or just plain weird movies. Hosts Ryan Buck and Todd Burnaska are long-time friends and film fanatics who have been on their respective missions to find and share with one another movies that don’t get all the attention…or the CGI. And some that might just be a little too strange to exist even at all. Alas, Todd and Ryan have been discovering and discussing these types of movies for years and now they are thrilled to share the experience with you. Yeah, it may get weird...But you might also make a new friend.

Hello friends and welcome to another little bonus from your friends here at A Little Independent. However it all worked out, here is a bonus episode for you to cap off Season 1. This should be an episode (and basically is) about the glory that is Keith David. In our second ecologically charged offering and harkening back to the glory days when a cassette tape could drive an entire film, we talk about Men at Work. In this episode, that sees Ryan needing zero notes, as a devotee of this film, Todd shares that he has seven pages of notes, we discuss whether Chalie Sheen is a good actor, Ask whether Google is French, Tood plans and executes questionable shenanigans, Ryan waxes maudlin about Vision Video again, we definitely decide Charlie Sheen isn’t a tall black man, we share our hard feelings on Emelio’s dreamy blue eyes, Todd at the beginning of the episode (at only 18 minutes in) issues a significant challenge to you all and we realize that we are the biggest dorks in the 10th grade class, we suppose. Thank you so much for listening to our show and watching these cool and crazy movies. Keep listening for an upcoming update on Season 2 and our future plans for an ALI board game….or line of low fat salad dressings. Aloha movie friends! This is the greatest day of your life, you just don’t know it yet. When we conceived of this podcast, there were a few guiding lights; North stars if you will. We say this name in reverence quite often on this show and we’ve referenced this film countless times. We live this film and celebrate this filmmaker unequivocally. The name is Sidaris and the film is Hard Ticket to Hawaii. This is a filmmaker and film, so special to Todd and Ryan that it had to be shown a place of honor and given the best possible respect and treatment. This is true reverence, people. And as podcast milestones go, ALI has gotten so very lucky and remain beside ourselves, to include an interview with the one and only Arlene Sidaris, Producer of this film and so many important films to the hosts and this podcast. We cannot thank Arlene and her team enough for her time with us, her dedication to the film industry, independent or otherwise, and for gifting us ALL of the beautiful things that this movie gives us. Forgive us the audio on the interview (Zoom times) So, here is your new favorite movie of all time and words from someone very special to the humans on this show. Anyone related to this film or the series, please get at us; we promise, we’re not stalkers. Well, one of us at least alittleindependentpodcast@gmail.com And please visit the Andy Sidaris website for amazing items and insight. Hello friends of movies odd and small and all things strange. Let’s get this out of the way. We love you. We are very thankful that you listen to our show and we hope you get something positive from every listening experience. No jokes. No quip. Just honesty from us Midwestern nerds. Here we have an episode that yet again, peels back more and more layers from our hosts and we give and give, possibly to a fault. We leave it all on the floor here. Our movie is another “movie about making movies” (see how MUCH we LOVE movies???) and we again, swear we are not stalking William H. Macy, but here again he is. In this episode, that we think features our sexiest segue into the movie title ever, we discuss our VERY different Pulp Fiction theater experiences, Ryan shares how much he hates word-shortening, Todd shares his favorite way to stand/pose nude, A really, really good Perfect Strangers reference goes tragically unnoticed, Ryan nearly is destroyed by Todd’s “weird hand thing”, Todd confuses our lead actress with a Jason Statham action movie and we wonder why Meg Ryan is on airplanes so much. If you have something to tell us, want us to do an episode in your native language or have a way to get Todd onto a bicycle, please email us at alittleindependentpodcast@gmail.com Green light this! #waitwait #arewerolling #montedoroforever #thelunchroom #muchosexy #latitude #congrats #bulkybartokomous #themeg
