    The hosts welcome back Josh and Dixie Paul. They are members of Abundant Life, who’ve raised two kids while Josh worked in the Navy as a psychiatrist. They continued their conversation about dealing with family trauma and how it can impact relationships. Josh compared dealing with family trauma to swimming upstream. It’s going to be hard, tough and exhausting at times, but it’s going to be worth it in the end. Dixie talked about how her family trauma affected her husband and kids. It led to her kids being insecure and anxious about meeting new people or letting people in. When she decided to work on healing from her past family trauma, she learned ways to help her kids process things as well. Josh and Dixie talk about the path to finding hope through family trauma through tools like: Seeking professional help Communicating openly with a trusted family member or spouse Talking to safe, appropriate people about your past Leaning into the promises of the Lord The hosts touched on how important it is to take time to address family trauma, work on healing past hurts, and lean on other people during the process.     Josh and Dixie Paul, members of Abundant Life, have raised two boys while Josh worked in the Navy as a psychiatrist. They join the hosts to talk about their past and the impact of family trauma on relationships. how trauma can impact families.  In Josh’s work as a psychiatrist, he works with people dealing with PTSD and trauma. He says everyone’s response to trauma is personal. What might feel huge to one person might not be a problem for another. The Hildebrands share their experiences with family trauma and said they have experience with that. They remembered recall how certain moments while they were raising their four boys were scary for one of them and not for the other. Dixie shared her family trauma from when she was growing up and how that trauma affected her as a woman, wife, and mother. She talked about how the Lord helped her find joy and healing. Josh said the real turning point for Dixie in her journey with family trauma was the moment she chose forgiveness over bitterness.
