  • Welcome to the FOGS Queenslander Podcast Episode 24!

In this episode, our host Mark Braybrook is joined by FOG # W12, the legendary Veronica White.

Veronica White’s role in Rugby League in Australia cannot be underestimated.

Veronica played for Queensland in the first interstate game against New South Wales before playing 16 tests for Australia over a 9 year period after making her debut in 1995.

Veronica represented Australia at two World Cups, 2000 and 2003, but arguably her greatest influence on the game has come off the field.

A former president of the Australian Women’s Rugby League, Veronica was the first woman to become a life member and was an integral part in developing the Women’s Interstate competition back in 1999, which is now known as State of Origin.

Ahead of her time, Veronica pushed for a national women’s competition to be formed back in the 1990’s. So highly thought of in the game, the NRLW player considered to have had the most impact on their community is awarded the Veronica White Medal. In August of 2024, Veronica White became inductee #130 into the NRL Hall of Fame
