  • Alvin and German conduct a great conversation with Author and Entrepreneur, Dan Gasby.’76. Dan began his career at a UHF TV station in Tennessee, where he embarked on a highly successful journey in television sales and production. He created and co-produced "Big Break," a musical variety show hosted by Natalie Cole that served as a forerunner to "American Idol," launching the careers of Eric Benét and R. Kelly. In 1992, Dan produced the first televised Essence Awards. He co-authored "Before I Forget: Love, Hope, Help, and Acceptance in Our Fight Against Alzheimer’s" with his late wife, Barbara “B.” Smith, and Michael Shnayerson. The book details the daily challenges they faced as a couple coping with Alzheimer's. Dan holds a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and Religion.
