If you grew up in Church like I did, you know Christians listening to “secular music” (or engaging any type of secular entertainment) or being a secular artist/entertainer can be somewhat of a controversial topic. In this episode, we unpack a biblical perspective on “secular” or mainstream arts and entertainment–art and entertainment that is not overtly faith-based or clearly communicating a Christian message.

We’ll answer three questions about secular entertainment: Is it sinful? Is it edifying? Is it God-glorifying? These principles apply not just to music but to all forms of entertainment–shows, movies, books, video games, podcasts, etc.

In this episode, I talk about how Christians should handle personal conviction issues and matters of conscience in the areas of life and conduct that don't seem so clear. I define what a personal conviction or personal conscience issue is according to Scripture and together we learn three biblical principles to help you discern your own personal convictions and interact well with other Christians who hold different ones.

If you've ever wondered things like should Christians enjoy "secular" entertainment (like music, movies, and video games), should Christians drink alcohol in moderation, should Christians have tattoos, or what physical boundaries Christians should have in a dating relationship, this study will give you some general principles how Jesus followers should approach those kinds of questions.

What if you had a heads up about challenges you'd face in life that would try to hinder your relationship with Jesus? Have you ever said or heard someone else say this: “I don’t want be a Christian because Christians are hypocrites.” It’s one of the primary misperceptions that discourages people from wanting to follow Jesus. In this episode, Jasmin looks at two explanations for why the actions of someone professing to be a Christian might not always align with what they say they believe, and shares some encouragement for both Christians who are growing in spiritual maturity and those not yet Christians who may be hesitant to follow Jesus because of the belief that Christians are hypocrites.
