  • Captain Ken Well, PART 2: United States Air Force Pilot and Vietnam POW
    Nov 18 2024

Pilot Down-Part 2 – My Guests, United States Air Force Pilot and Vietnam POW, Captain Ken Wells is joined by his wife Candy, to share their story.

“Freedom is the sure possession of those alone who have the courage to defend it.” ~ Anonymous

In this week’s episode I was blessed to not only have Officer Ken Wells on the show, but I was honored to have his wife as well. Captain Wells was an F4 pilot for the Air Force. He served from 1969 to 1978 and 466 days of that service was spent as a POW.

Honoring our veterans is something that we should all do, but equally we should honor their families that allow for the sacrifice. Captain Wells shares with us how he and his partner found themselves in a dire situation when they ran their F4 out of fuel while still over enemy territory. Once they had to eject there was no certainty that they would ever see their loved ones again.

Ken’s wife Candy was back home and 5 days away from giving birth to their first child when Ken’s plane went down. Mrs. Candy was suddenly facing the difficulties of being a first time mom and possibly a widow. Life was definitely never going to be the same.

Their story of survival and overcoming great odds is one that needed a two part story line in order to get a decent picture of what life was like for these two incredible patriots. THE EXCITING CONCLUSION TO “PILOT DOWN”.

  • Army Veteran, CW3 James Williams served in the Army Special Forces during Vietnam
    Nov 4 2024

Behind Enemy Lines – My Guest, Army Veteran, CW3 James Williams served in the Army Special Forces during Vietnam deploying on three tours.

“For so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son should not parish but have everlasting life.” ~ John 3:16

You would be hard pressed to find a better American than my guest this week. Mr. Williams grew up in a loving, God fearing family that taught him the value of hard work and discipline.

It was just after high school that Mr. Williams decided that there weren’t enough jobs to be had and with a young wife and child he needed to find something that could provide for his family. So, without hesitation, Mr. Williams walked into a recruiters office and said he wanted to join the service. In an ironic twist of fate, Mr. Williams thought he was entering the Marines but instead learned that he had actually entered the Army. Out of basic training he was offered an opportunity to go to jump school so he figured that would be a good move because they got paid a little more. Then during jump school he was offered a chance to join the Army special forces and became one of the first African Americans to join and he was 1 of 10 out of fifty to actually complete training.

When he graduated from Ranger school in 1965, he was immediately sent to the front lines of Vietnam. This would be one of three different deployments to the war. Sustaining a gunshot to the leg on one tour and having his hand badly injured by a grenade on another tour, Mr. Williams never lost his desire to be there for his fellow soldiers. It was in 1969 when he finally returned home never to return to the war but then he faced an entirely new battle, that of PTSD. It would be impossible to give a full description of our conversation but I can say without any question, YOU DO NOT WANT TO MISS THIS EPISODE! God Bless our troops and God bless the USA!
