  • Zenda Walker's New Book Helps Girls Connect Hair to Culture
    Feb 22 2021

    Interview with Zenda Walker

Zenda Walker is an author, licensed cosmetologist, and beauty marketing executive. Originally from the Bronx, New York, she enjoys traveling, spontaneous dance parties, exploring and developing beauty trends, and chocolate desserts. Zenda is a co-founder of Bounce Mobile Fitness Club, LLC. – a fitness business specializing in rebounding workouts. Zenda resides in Los Angeles, California with her daughter Zara Olivia.

Her new book, Know your Hairitage: Zara’s Wash Day, is a semi-biographical children’s story about how hairstyles and hair texture are a link to heritage and ancestry. The book is available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble. She plans on making Hairitage a brand. This is just the first book/step in the brand.

It's wash day and Zara is not excited about wearing her hair in the same styles Mama usually creates. But once Mama takes Zara on a cultural journey to help her understand the significance of each hairstyle, wash days will never be the same! Know Your Hairitage: Zara's Wash Day is a semi-biographical story about how the hair texture and cultural styles of people of African descent are linked to a colorful and layered ancestral story.
