In its heyday, the city flourished on the edge of the ocean. The inhabitants were a species of reptile looking like a hybrid of crocodile and seal, but with horns and protruding foreheads. Pickman's Model is a short story by H. P. Lovecraft, written in September 1926 and first published in the October 1927 issue of Weird Tales.
