Enhancing the Audible Experience with Next-Gen Tech

Whether on the go, doing chores, or settling into bed, millions of customers turn to Audible for immersive listening experiences. We’re committed to constantly enhancing the Audible service—and to supporting the publishers and creators who help make great audio storytelling possible. These are some of our latest customer experience and technological developments.

A Fan-Favorite Feature Gets an Upgrade

For years, customers have loved the Audible app’s timer, which automatically stops playing a title after a set number of hours or minutes—letting listeners drift off to sleep without worrying that they’ll wake up to a finished title. Now, we’ve added the ability to set the timer to end after a chapter or episode, so customers can further tailor listening to their own needs and preferences.

Helping Customers Hit Their Listening Goals

Want to be sure to finish a title before the next book club meeting or an upcoming exam? Enter listening reminders, a way to help customers maintain a consistent pace by sending notifications at selected times. Reminders are easy to set up while an audiobook is playing, or through the app’s settings.

AI Collections and Descriptions Make Audible More Personalized Than Ever

With more than a million titles to choose from, Audible customers are never far from being captivated by a new listen. In addition to collections curated by our editors, customers can now view dynamic, hyper-personalized selections from the homepage on the Audible app. These collections currently focus on educational topics ranging from cooking and archaeology to entrepreneurship and professional development, with further genres and personalization updates to come.

We’re also using AI to boost descriptions of other suggested listens. For example, taking carousels that may have been previously titled “For You” and giving them more detailed headers like “Smart money moves to build your wealth,” so customers better understand the recommendations they’re given and can more quickly find titles that match their exact interests.

These features join Audible’s other AI-powered enhancements for content discovery, like Maven, our state-of-the-art search tool.

Every Book, in Every Language, on Audio – Turning a Vision into a Reality

Audiobooks are the fastest-growing format in publishing, yet of the millions of books in print today, only a fraction are available in audio. Soon, through select partnerships with publishers, we will bring new audiobooks to life through our own fully integrated, end-to-end AI production technology. We’ll also begin rolling out AI translation in beta later in 2025, allowing select publishers to bring their audiobooks to international audiences in their local languages, with support for translations from English to Spanish, French, Italian, and German in the pipeline.
