About this listen

For weeks, Derringer Westmoreland was haunted by memories of a woman whose face he could not recall. But he wanted - he needed - to share that intense passion again. Now. When he finally traced his mystery woman, he was met with a surprise. His fantastic one-night stand was Lucia Conyers, his sister-in-law's best friend. And Lucia wasn't about to become one of Derringer's women. For the first time in his charmed life, the ranch owner had some wooing to do. The store was good but not the performance

i love the series but feel that the performance of the character accents were awful. You have the men with horrible welcome to Mayberry accent along with a high pitched Barbie valley girl squeal, It took a lot away from the story.

A hard listen

Again I would like to say that I love BJ's books, but not everyone can narrate for her. The story was fantastic but the narrator made it hard to listen too.
Really wish that they would use males to narrate her books, they require a strong male voice.

I should have read the book before

But reading out of series does not deminish the wonderful story. This is still delightful to read. The narrator is ok I like Avery better.

Great story!! Could have a different narrator

I loved the story!! But the narrator could have been different. It sounded out of place for the male voices. When you think of a male Westmoreland you think of a captivating deep voice (Ron Butler) or (Cary White) the female was very high pitch. Next on the list: let’s see how the narrator does for book #21

Love the story, but the narrator does not match the characters

I truly enjoy Brenda Jackson's anthologies. So much so that I have looked forward to hearing the books that I've already read come to life through Audible. I don't believe that this narrator was the best selection for this book. I enjoyed the story thoroughly, in fact it's a story that I love and have read multiple times. I hope that with future books from African American authors, an African American narrator is considered AND used. This story is well known to me, but the characters' voices and intonation presented was off putting.
