Publisher's summary

"Hmmm, an alien, an angel, and a dead prophet. Welcome. We’ve been expecting you. Please come in."

Operating a piece of heavy machinery, for example, a time machine under the influence of tainted human blood, is never a good idea, especially if my oldest friend and onboard computer, Lasitor, vowed to protect not only me but my bloodline for eternity.

This is my story. If you haven't figured that out by now, I feel sorry for you and your parents. Anyhow, this is how I found my soulmate by accident in a time and place not written down in your human history books.

My story comes with a warning label. It is a time travel, speculative science fiction fantasy—I’m spelling it out for those slow to grasp things like this. It contains elements that might shock or confuse you. Your human history about where you came from, and where you think you are going, might or might not be as you imagined. The explicit, graphic depictions of my love life and my travels are unsuitable for young, sensitive listeners or anyone offended by gay sex.

Thank you to the wonderful author who has taken the time to write it all down meticulously.

Excellent, best audiobook of the year

Between narrator Jonathan Waters and Kashel Char, they've created something epic. This was the best audiobook I've listened to in a long time. It consisted of a beautiful world, a magnificent plot, deep emotional struggles within the characters, humor, action and fighting scenes, hot MM romance and so much more. Each chapter provides a story so vividly and extraordinarily described that I can't wait to hear what comes next out of the woodwork. I've read the book and after I heard the audio, I can't say more than I loved everything about the conclusion. I'm a big fan of this author, once I open their books or listen to the audiobooks my mind goes on a ride I never want to stop. The narration makes this mind-blowing. The voices are perfect for each character and the performance brings out all the emotions, making it super entertaining.
The tremendous brain power behind these writings is unique and the gay romance is not overpowering. It is plot and character-driven and although explicit the love and personal struggles between the characters are palpable. I hope it gets lots of rewards, this new author is pulling out all the stops to deliver the best sci-fi fantasy under the MM genre umbrella. Ten out of ten for originality.
Don't get me started on the humor, I laughed one second, cried the other, and chewed my nails down to the bone at the end. Okay, I'm done. Now get the audiobook to see for yourself.

Can he make things right or will it all get worse

Ish, poor Ish! Can he make things right or will it all get worse?!?

What a wild ride for this book and the series!!! I know to expect shock and awe from our dear author, Kashel Char and I've not been disappointed yet. Wow, just wow. My brain, my brain, it exploded all over the floor.

Narrator Johnathan Winters, I can't say enough about him. His voices for each character, I don't know how he does it!!! What I love is that it doesn't matter how much time goes by he still gets the voices right with each audio release. You're my hero!!!

About the book, what to say about the book... Hmmmm. If you haven't started this series you definitely don't want to start from this book. This is not a standalone story by any stretch of the imagination. You have to go back to the very beginning which I hear is a very good place to start. Insert wink emoji. I'm bowled over and I'd like to revisit each and every one of these stories again. Now if I can just figure out where to get those 50 hours to listen to them all again I'll be on it like a duck on a June bug.

Kashel, thanks for the ride!!! I look forward to seeing what you have in store for us next. I'm not sure you can top this, you'll have to pull out all your epicness to make it happen!!!

Stunning

This is an absolutely mind-bending story containing alternate Earth history, SF wonderful characters and steamy romance. I enjoyed every minute of it and here are a few of the reasons why. First, with all the doom and gloom AI stories in the news these days, I loved the AI character of Lasitor. His chapter introductions were a great mix of actual facts and information about the way things work in this fictional world. He also saves our characters multiple times and you can "hear" the eye rolls every time at the antics of these irrational flesh and blood creatures. Second, we get the return of old friends from previous books in the New Beginnings series like Cian, Eryn, Ivan and others and they aren't used as minor, secondary characters. They play major roles in this book and we see them grow and change and learn new things about them. Next, the characters felt real to me because I didn't like all of them from the beginning. I found Peter especially hard to warm up to just like I find some people in real life but I came to appreciate him more as we see him through Ish's eyes and because like all the characters he develops and changes over the course of the story. I loved the way the author organized this story so that it was not told in a linear fashion. It felt like a wonderful jigsaw puzzle/mystery/stained glass that I had to pay attention to and try to catch all the clues and pieces as we changed time periods and locations and got to see events from different perspectives. I love a book I can't coast through. Finally, there are just some genuinely great lines in this book. My favorites from the first time I read it, that I couldn't wait to hear performed were "Hmmm, an alien, an angel, and a dead prophet. Welcome. We've been expecting you. Please come in." If that has vague Dracula vibes, there's a reason and every bit of this is important to the story and paid off.

Now to Jonathan Waters' performance. This is a long, complicated book and can't have been easy to perform with all the different characters, characters appearing at different ages and in different time periods and with plenty of scenes of high emotion. It would have been so easy to create caricatures and/or go over the top but Waters never puts a foot wrong. The emotions are spot on, the voices are distinct, his voice is great to listen to for 17 plus hours and it sounds like he's having a ball.

Very much looking forward to more from this author and narrator combo.

Shook and so interested in more!

Start from the first book!!

It’s been a while since a sci- fy has grabbed my attention so fully and kept me engaged the WHOLE TIME!

Jonathan winters is a phenomenal narrator. This is my first narration of his and I will definitely look for more of his work— I’m obsessed.

Man, I don’t want to spoil it for anyone so I’ll try not to give it away.

Ishtar— this dude cannot catch a break. When he gets the message from the “fates” to help others and never for himself but also not to change time — I KNEW it would be a wild ride— and I was not let down. This was a great book, it was intense and very detailed. I loved it immensely. Can I also say- Ishtar is snarky yet so determined to do right. I love that he isn’t just a brute that stomps around with fists first. He is humorous without being outright funny. It’s these little comments he makes that I don’t think are intended to be funny because this is a very intense book. But none the less he is smart and driven.

The world building 10/10
The details 10/10
The story line 10/10

Incredible ending to the series!

Wow! Just wow. I had to sit on this for a few days to let it marinate because that was one chunky book. I absolutely love this series. After Cian's Song, I knew Ishtar had a lot of explaining to do. I liked that the first 45% or so was learning about Ish's backstory: how he got his ship, we learned about his father and sisters, dealing with the Fates, his struggles trying to find his true mate, and his perspective of events from the previous books in the series. Then the rest was one wild adventure as we learn what Ish's constant time jumps had really done to the timeline. And then there were a couple of whammy's that really rocked my boat, ahem Lassitor. And I had to stop listening for a couple days because Kashel Char ripped my heart out at the beginning of one of the last chapters. You really got me with that one. But I prevailed and was able to finish listening. What an incredible way to finish this series. I love the men of Phoenix (especially Juandre, I adore him!), I love Eryn and Barkor, and I love Ish and Peter. Jonathan Waters is absolutely amazing voicing these characters. He has a magical way with his voices and making you feel the emotions of the characters.
