Publisher's summary

A curse spun of thorns.

Thrown into the supernatural world, Rose must learn to adapt to her new identity. But learning the truth about her reality turns out to be much more than she thought. Determined to protect herself, she begins training for the battle ahead. One of her mates could be the key to her success or failure.

Surrounded by the dark, Rose must venture on a dangerous journey leading her places she never could have imagined. As decisions are made, new facts emerge and her relationships are tested. The result will set the stage for the course of her life. With growing expectations, Rose's destiny looms closer as she discovers which side to fight for. The fate of her realm rests on her shoulders.

Sleeping Beauty meets Rumpelstiltskin in this steamy urban fantasy reverse harem retelling intended for mature listeners (18+) due to sexual situations, swearing, and violence.

A Slow-Burn Atypical Reverse Harem

Interesting take on a classic fairy tale. And I'm not just talking about the reverse harem aspect, but the whole introduction to Rumplestiltskin, and other paranormal creatures. Who would have guessed that the King of the Underworld has a role to play in here as well?! The threat of danger looms near and they're scrambling to figure out a battle plan. I wish there was more relationship-bonding time between Rose and the guys too. But maybe that happened in the first book, and I was at a disadvantage having only listened to the second. I found the first half of the book more intriguing as it focuses on the Underworld with Bael taking the reigns as the heir to Satain. Aside from him, I just couldn't connect with the rest of the other mates.

Rose took on the cliché role of the annoying heroine who thinks she can take on the big bad all by herself because she doesn't want anyone else to get hurt because of her. Briary Rose's lack of control over her temper and knee-jerk reaction of showing off her fire power trick is going to get her into a whole lot of trouble one day. Plus her slamming the door, stomping down the stairs tantrum didn't help either. I'm hoping she will mature and others will also treat her as their equal. With all that said, I'd like to see how everything will play out. So far, the guys haven't quite accepted the idea of sharing Rose, so there hasn't been any group participation. I'm hoping that the last book will change things up for them. :P #AudiobookObsessionReviewer

Sleeping Beauty

Briar is still trying to figure out what all she encompasses aside from being fae. With her mates by her side, she is getting stronger at wielding her powers. There is a war coming and they need to be prepared for when Rumple tries to come for her. I am really enjoying this sleeping beauty twist of a series.

slow build up

This book is more slow building up to a bigger plot and war. There are parts that seem rushed but not so much that it takes away from the story. Rose continues to develop her relationship with each of the guys, who all still hate each other and I find tremendously amusing. For the most part I really like the guys in this story and their uniqueness from each other. They start to make peace for the sake of Rose but there is still alot of jealousy. For a RH there has been no shared intimate scenes, all just one on one with Rose. I love the shared scenes but appreciate something different. Rose on the other hand I kinda wanted to smack a few times. She has become very dramatic and unreasonable (for a fantasy RH book). She finds out her background which seems to be breezed over and with war coming she gets mad when other people want to protect her. She makes too many "who the hell does she/he think they are" and "i can take care of myself" comments. She genuinely believes she can take on the whole world and the worst bad guy alone? I just didn't like how her personality became independent to the point of annoyance. The take on sleeping beauty starts to come out more but not so much that the story isn't completely unique.

I didnt think this book was as good as the first one but I am still looking forward to seeing what happens next. The book did not end on a cliffhanger so thanks authors! There is still one guy Rose has hardly spent any time with, the mean vamp has eased up (love Eli), the pack turned and then unturned on Rose, and Rumple made an appearance. Rose still needs to meet her parents and unite a whole kingdom to fight with her. Much more to come!
