In the monster's eyes, I saw the reflection of my own dark desires.
I’ve always chased thrills—dark, risky, and dangerous—because it's the only way I feel alive after enduring a childhood filled with trauma and pain. My scars run deep, hidden behind a façade of innocence.
When the carnival comes to town, I meet Gage—a masked man cloaked in shadows and darkness. He's everything I crave: thrilling, terrifying, and utterly irresistible. As our paths intertwine, I’m drawn into a world where fear and desire collide, and the line between pleasure and pain blurs.
Gage awakens something primal in me. He's my darkest fantasy, and together, we explore the boundaries of our desires. Beneath his rough exterior, I glimpse a vulnerability and pain that mirrors my own. We've both been broken, haunted by our pasts, but perhaps in each other, we can find healing and redemption.
Will our love be enough to tame the monsters within us, or will our demons consume us both?
Carnival Monster is a dark romance novella with heavy subjects that some readers may find triggering. A full list of the warnings will be found in the book. This story has no cliffhanger and ends with a HEA.

This particular book is probably the darkest book I've ever listened to. It deals with different styles of fetishes from rape fetish cutting and I don't mean light cutting I mean like actual cutting with knives and drawing blood. I believe they call that play. Also individuals actually feasting on each other's blood, erotica asphyxiation as well as a unique use of a firearm.
I must admit that the story was interesting. I was writing for both characters to actually find each other and fall in love which I believe was the entire intention of this author. I would like to say kudos and congratulations to Selena Winters for her time and talent I don't believe putting this book together was easy and unless she's into the lifestyle herself, I'm sure she did a ton of research. I would also like to say bravo to our extremely talented narrators Autumn and walker while we will have absolutely sensational voices, and you brought the characters to life along with this haunting story.
I really liked Aurora's character. I thought she was a great girl that had a hard life, and this was the particular hand she was dealt. You can't help how you feel you can't help who you fall in love with and you can't change who you are. The old saying is true a leopard does not change it spot. Due to her violet past, Aurora take you through her deep, dark sexual fantasies, and brings them to life through Gage.
Gage, is a mass murderer on a destination for destruction. Both he and Aurora have very similar past dealing with abuse, which makes them who they are in the book. (yearning for human touch and a real connection - someone who will truly understand them)
Hey, Who am I to judge..? Overall, I was hoping for a happy ending for this couple. Parts of the book were truly cringe worthy while other parts were tender. Of course, I felt terrified and scared for Aurora since our leading male was technically a mass murderer.... Killing women in each town, as the county fair roll through America. EKKK! That's about as dark as you're gonna get amigos. In reality, if it was one of my friends or family members that he killed, I guess I would not be rooting for this guy. Technically, I don't think I was ever really rooting for him, but hoping he would change his ways throughout the book. Everyone loves a happy ending, especially me. What did they say, love prevails?
I was torn on how to write this book. Technically the performance was 10 stars and the writing was also 10 stars however I personally had a hard time getting into the story at times because it was darker than I am accustomed to so in that sense, I would give it a two or three star. Not because it's a bad book just because it wasn't my particular style of book however, it was hauntingly beautifully written and because of that Selena's words and Autumn and Walker's narration me in and kept me in till the end. (hey Selena, please write more carnival books! PORFA)
If you can handle a deep dirt plunge into a strange world of unusual fetishes this might be your next book.
