 When your family has run illegal alcohol and drugs for over a century, there aren't a lot of career choices. The problem is that Scott (who later becomes Wes in hiding) is the only one Johnny will ever love and he's leaving for the San Francisco Ballet Company in two days. They say goodbye in their normal steamy manner and life . . . does not . . . go on.

Scott (Wes) gets used and abused in The City and turns to drugs and alcohol.

Johnny learns that the family’s matriarchs who started (in prohibition) and have been running the family's business with he and his brother’s help since they were children, have lost their grip on it. There's about to be an internal jockeying for position, an internal family war. Murder is on the horizon.

Johnny's always wanted out of the business, so when Scott calls and asks him to come save him from himself, he's on his way. They're going to have to disappear forever.

Funny how they end up in Lakeview Lodge, nowhere remotely close to the plan—but they didn't plan on being shapeshifters either. Like others, they find they're part of a group of brainwashed late bloomers and Lakeview Lodge is the perfect place to change their names, their past, and save their lives. They’re going to be making a new kind of shifter family.
