About this listen

The truest torment is wanting something you know you can never have. Charlotte Tremaine knows this feeling all too well. She covets the freedom to do as she pleases but has never let herself dream of being with the man she loves. The problem is she loves two men.

For the last three years, Charlotte has survived her stifling home life by living through correspondence with two childhood friends now off at war. Once they return will she be able to summon the courage to tell them of her feelings? Or will she let the convenience of mourning an aunt she despised keep her hidden and isolated?

Fear lurks in the shadows and threatens to keep her cloistered. When William Stanton and Grayson, Earl Warrington return from war, she teeters on the brink of having what she has always wanted. Torn between William and Grayson, Charlotte must first learn to trust herself before she can trust her heart and body to them.

Good story but you have to tolerate narrator.

Is there anything you would change about this book?

The story had a good steady pace and unfolded well. The only downside to this audible book is the narrators use a voices. Her voice for one of the protagonist is actually quite grating and you have to get through it in order to enjoy the story itself. That is the only drawback of this book.

What other book might you compare Covet to and why?

The authors other Regency romances.

How could the performance have been better?

The studio should have encouraged the voice actor to have better command of the pronunciation of certain words and change the voice used for one of the protagonist. Her ability to shift voices so that each character could be heard was not smooth at all and at times could be grating.

Terrible voice for one of the characters

The narrator was okay except for her voice for William. She made him sound like an old man.

Disappointed

I was thrilled to listen to this book but was disappointed. The author could’ve done so much with the book but it felt sooooooo slow. There also seemed to be so much repetitive conversations from this character to that one to another. The love scenes were rushed and could’ve used more details to make you feel in the moment. The love scenes were confusing. The narrator made the voice of William sound like a little boy! I had already downloaded other books by this author glad to find a regency author who can write some erotic novels but now I’m not sure if I’ll listen to them.
