 The Stables of Fun finds disaster in the back alley as a shipment of highly profitable merchandise is ruined by a delivery deer named Tex whose focus wasn't on his job. For Tex it was just another mistake in a string of problems that he had in his various jobs, but this time he messed with the wrong business as plushie store owner Arthur finds an alternative means of punishment rather than the typical route of getting fired. Using the power of the nexus benefactors Tex not only becomes an employee of the Stables but also a leather creature as well! But what Tex, Arthur, and even the nexus lords that the plushie sheep worked for were unaware that the deer's disastrous mistake was the latest in a string of sabotage against the Stables.

Tex finds himself teaming up with those in the Stables and a formerly rival business full of other mystical creatures in order to figure out who was behind these acts. Along the way he finds out that personality is sometimes skin deep and that the power he gained allowed him to experience it for himself. Can he figure out what was going on through the eyes of those whose identities he had taken, especially when his own inner self was in turmoil?
