He couldn't say that he'd planned on being imprisoned. His slavery days were over. Finding his only lead in there wasn't much of a surprise once he'd started asking about. Listening to the gossip. Keeping under the radar. It was soon clear the person others considered mad, was who he needed to find. And he was in jail. So, it was logical to make a scene and get in there too. And that had been far to easy.

This was not a tolerant world. Not an Empire world. The people beaten down.

He could have broken free anytime but that wasn't going to get him what he wanted. He needed to stay. Until he had the intel anyway. Getting into the right cell a challenge he was up for. Making trouble and taking the punishment part of the job. Until he reached the male he needed. Belligerent, confused and still drunk, he had no tolerance for his lies. Making him talk was not difficult.

Finding the rumours true. Cyborgs were on this world. Hidden. In the wild. Under the control of a family. The male had seen it himself from a distance but not approached. He'd been curious and followed the family back to their home wanting to know how they could produce so much with so few people.

He'd got drunk watching them then waking, finding they'd found him only to be scared off by the family. The men described as huge men, guards with weapons and workers. Not allowing anyone or anything near the place. Off the beaten track, no one knew they were there. Never coming into town, the family doing that kind of work. The large men like him staying away....

A drunk, he'd tried to sell his story for more alcohol, but many thought of his words as nothing but exaggeration and ignored him but the rumours traveled. And he knew better. Finding the location the male provided over his optic he broke his bonds, then the door mechanism on his own and several cells, the chaos of fleeing prisoners the distraction he needed to walk out the jail and to his ride. Allowing his nanos to now repair his damage, he made his way to his lost brothers still in captivity updating the ship in orbit to his intel.

The Empire was coming...

Betty grinned, she couldn't help it. They tried so hard to fit in but sometimes, it just didn't work. Like now. "Would you stop, that's terrible!"

"How are we to learn if we do not try?" 0504 asked her.

"Yes, I get it. You need to try. It is better."

"We have been here a long time Betty. Our ship is beyond repair. We need to blend in. And you are alone now. Need a man, a family for this to go on."

She waved her hand at him. "I know, I know." She worried her lip. "It's not easy for me either. Can't expose you. You know others would be coming. Try to take you. I might go to prison if they find out."

"We will never allow that."

She nodded. "I think our time is running out."

"Our people will come." She looked at him, he showed little emotion. That was what they were trying to learn. She hoped so.
