About this listen

Liam Kelly is in love with his best friend. His straight, freshly divorced best friend, who wants to experiment…with him.

Ollie: The last thing I expected from my wife was a divorce. I’d checked all the boxes off—cozy house near my folks, joined the family business as a contractor, and married right out of high school. Except the more I think about how distant we’ve been, the more our split makes sense. And the more time I spend blowing off steam with my best friend, the more I want to actually...blow him.

Liam: Have I been hopelessly in love with Ollie my entire life? Yes, yes, I have. Has he been married for the past decade? Yes, yes, he has. However, when his wife calls it quits, my heart can’t help contriving scenarios where he might not be as straight as he seems. And when those scenarios start coming true—from scorching looks to playful grapples until we go much further—I throw myself into the deep end.

The second we start hooking up, I can’t hold back the feelings I’ve been clutching tight to for over a decade. But if this ends up a rebound for Ollie, a blip before he looks for a new wife, I won’t only be out a best friend, but the love of my life.

I really enjoyed this one. It was an easy, lighthearted read. I loved getting to see these two best friends figure things out and take the next step. Liam and Ollie have been best friends since freshman year of high school and Liam is gay and has had a major crush on his best friend, pretty much since the beginning of their friendship but there has never been anything there. Ollie has pretty much just about always been with a girlfriend and he has been married to his high school girlfriend since so never really explored his sexuality either so has always identified as straight. Ollie's wife has now asked for a divorce and while it throws Ollie off at first, the more he thinks about it and after talking to Liam, it's not such a surprise anymore and he isn't super broken up about it. It's not an ugly divorce, very amicable. Ollie goes to Liam when he finds out and there was a party that night so he ends up staying and they share the same bed. The next morning, things start changing between them and Ollie starts realizing that he is attracted to Liam and the vibes and chemistry between them start sparking. I loved the low angst of this one and how Ollie was the one pushing the prior boundaries and the more he notices that Liam is interested, the further he goes. I love how Ollie was about the communication between them. He was open and quickly started realizing that Liam was person and always had been and not just as a friend. This one was easy to read and engage with and I had a lot of fun with the characters. It was an easy and lighthearted friends to lovers, bi-awakening story and one without a lot of drama. It was on the shorter side but not too short.
The narrator did a good job with the story and wasn't hard to listen to. He did try/have different voices for the different characters though they weren't entirely the best, especially the ones for the females but it wasn't annoying or irritating. He did a pretty good job of trying to showcase the action/emotion in the story.

Easy story to listen to, low angst best friends to lovers

Ollie and Liam have been best friends since they remember themselves. Liam has been inlove with Ollie since being 14. Ollie is straight and married to his high-school sweetheart. now, 13 years after they are getting divorced and his wife leaving him. Liam is trying to be the best friend but suddenly their relationship shifts and Ollie is not that straight anymore...

The story is very sweet, romantic and cute. its best friends to lovers. sunshine/grumpy. bi awakening. while its very sweet, its also has tons of dirty talk that I love.

The author and the narrator is new to me so it took some time to get use to the style. while the book is overall good, I felt like sometimes it was repeating itself over and over again. Also a lot of internal monologs that sometimes feel too much.

All in all I recommend this book as its easy listen and not too heavy.

Dan Levy pairs up with Kat in the last of the Hot Under Collar series that also introduces us to the Brannons. Dan does a beautiful job in differentiating the characters so you can easily tell who's talking.

What a perfect ending for the Hot Under the Collar series, and not to mention the introduction to the Brannons! That family is gonna be a hoot in her all new upcoming series, the Brannon Boys!
So lovely clueless Ollie is just so perfect. Yes, you want to hit him with a clue by four, but you still wanna snuggle him full stop. Liam is just that perfect best friend who doesn't initiate, but let's it play out as it was always meant to be. It's no surprise when they finally take a shot it's fire and moves warp speed full stop because they've been each other's person so dang long. Can't say how much I love this book, just pure happiness and sunshine!

Great light hearted with plenty of heat listen

Liam and Ollie were Made for each other! Sorry not sorry that Ollie's marriage did not work out AT ALL! Ollie instantly needed more Liam time. It was legit like a light bulb going off and I loved that Ollie was all in for Liam belonging to and with him always! Their first times together were so sweet and spicy with all the comfort of two people who knew each other completely, well almost, minus Ollie needing to realize how intimate his feeling went for Liam. I am really enjoyed Dan Levy narrating for Liam and Ollie. He did both of them so well!

I really liked this steamy story about BFFs finding their loves in each other. Ollie and Liam have been friends practically their whole lives, and Liam has been in love with Ollie the whole time. But Ollie was the straightest of straight men and married to his high school sweetheart. Liam just figures it's never meant to be so what's the point of being in a relationship with a man who would never measure up to Ollie. When Ollie is blindsided by his wife asking for a divorce, he's not sure what his life is going to look like now, but Liam is always there to help him pick up the pieces. There is some pining here, but it's not too much or too angsty. I liked how easily Ollie accepted the new state of things between them and the spice is pretty off the charts. And good god, Dan Levy is an excellent narrator. He knows how to properly growl and he's not afraid to use it. I would recommend this audio book for sure.

Imagine being in love with your “straight” bff for so long that, when life finally gives you a chance, you waste NO TIME. Hahaha. That’s such the luck of Liam, who after his bff Ollie gets divorced from his wife, the opportunity of a lifetime walks in.

This story is a sort of fast paced one, because why overthink what has been true for years? While they started as hookup of convenience (sort of speak), quickly develop into what it has always been, two souls finally merging into one.

Want to see how long-pinning bffs-turned-lovers happened? Definitely jump into this asap!

I listened to the audiobook and I have to say I LOVED Dan Levi and how versatile he was doing the voices. It was such a good listen, 9/10 recommend.

What to expect in this book?

-Forever pinning
-Bi-awakening
