About this listen

Kyle's known that he likes guys since he's been a boy, but he's never actually been with a man. He likes to tell himself that he's not the one night stand type and he hasn't found time for a real relationship. The truth of the matter is that he's scared; scared of embarrassing himself, or worse, being hurt. When the perfect opportunity arises on a dream vacation, will Kyle find the nerve he needs? READ AN EXCERPT: “Filthy habit, that,” and I whirl, nearly dropping my cigarette, when I see him lighting one of his own. “Sorry about that… again,” he says with a smile crinkling his lips. “Indeed. I agree most wholeheartedly,” I reply. “Which is probably why it’s so enjoyable, don’t you think?” I am rewarded by another chuckle from him, which gives me such a warm feeling inside. “And may I also commend you on how quietly you are able to move?” He has removed his jacket and tie and is now wearing a tight, woolen white sweater which reveals just how muscular he is. Despite his height, there is no lankiness in him, whatsoever, and the sight is magnificent. To keep from devouring him with my eyes, I turn back to the view, and he offers me a penny for my thoughts. In response, I hold out an open palm to him, and yes, I get yet another chuckle which gets yet another smile from me. “You have a beautiful home,” I start out. “I want to thank you again for letting me stay, though I really wouldn’t mind moving into a hotel should…” “You’re staying here, and that’s that,” he interrupts. “There is no trouble, whatsoever.” “Still, a week is a long time.” “I thought you were staying for two weeks?” “Mayette will, but this is my first time in this part of the world, so I’m hoping to see some beaches.” After a few more minutes of idle talk, with me yawning half the time, I make my way to bed. Before doing so, however, I take a shower, and as I stand naked before the floor-to-ceiling mirror (imagine that!?), I take a good look at myself. I’m no looker (certainly no one back in England ever thought so), but I don’t think I’m too bad. I took up gymnastics while still in kindergarten, keeping it up till my last year before university. And while I never acquired the bulging muscles of some of the more athletic types, I’ve maintained a good body, I think. I’m not stupid, however, so I know why I’m looking at myself this way. I’m wondering if I’d ever be good enough for lightning god. It’s ridiculous, I know. Here I am, 23-years-old, and while I’ve certainly been kissed, I have never gone all the way. Mayette thinks I’m a prude, and I’m beginning to think she might be right. In the five years we’ve lived together, she’s spent the last four trying to set me up with different men, but nothing has ever come of any of them. As in not even as far as first base, see? Ah well.
