Publisher's summary

Two years ago I made her my final girl. Perhaps I'm a little obsessed. The shrine covering my bedroom wall would certainly agree. I've even played out a few scenarios that end with her taking my knife in much more creative ways than usual.

Today is the day I finally take her life.

I'm ramping up the carnage and tying up loose ends in bloody bows. There's another serial killer in Umbra Valley and the Massacre Maniac won't be outdone. However, our local femme fatale isn't waiting around for me to kill my obsession. Appears she hates me as much as I hate her.

"Meet at midnight", that's what the letter says. Cute.

Don't tango with the devil, sweetheart. You're about to learn that he doesn't play fair.

Expect this thriller romance to include:
Rival serial killers
MxF dark romance
Masks + Hidden Identities
Dangerous lovers who never stop going for the kill

Author Notes: Each book in the Umbra Valley series will feature a new couple. This book can be listened to as a standalone.

deliciously dark

It’s a dark, twisted and deranged slasher romance.
When Jack meets Zoe for the first time, he decided not to kill her. They both are serial killers in this story.
It's twisted and their disturbing love is creepy, but brings you in for the plot twists.
Ash Kingsley and Colt Carter did an amazingly good performance, giving the emotion and tension for this story.

Dark and Intense!

This is the first book in the Umbra Valley Series, a standalone romance. The story is dark, intense, raw, and captivating. The world building is original, and fascinating. Ash Kingsley and Colt Carter did a great job bringing this story to life. Looking forward to more in the series. #PFPAudio

Delusional at its finest!

If you want an obsessed, crazy, delusional, mass serial killing male main character who has piquerism, has touch her and die vibes… you’ve found the book. Don’t know what piquerism is? Start reading.

Side note: our female main character is also crazy. Lovely, right!?

This was a good listen. I wish it was duet but that’s okay! Narrators did a good job.

Book 1 you say?

I'm not sure what I expected but I was a little thrown by so much plot for such a short read. I knew I was going to enjoy it, just didn't think it'd be a full meal. Sure it was 90% guts and gore, but what romance isn't? Oh, that's NOT normal? Oops.

Jack and Zoe were thouroughly entertaining and I consumed this book quickly. I'm super curious about Anthony and what the rest of the series will bring. I'm also glad I got this in hard copy because I really like the cover!

I will note that in regards to the audiobook, the female narrator did well enough, but the male narrator was very clinical and kind of distracting. I still enjoyed the story though.

Dark and disturbing slasher romance

I am a huge fan of Beatrix Hollow. She is a one click author for me so when I heard she had a new pen name, I was super excited.

Meet Me at Midnight was a fairly quick read that took me on a wild and unhinged ride. Zoe and Jack have a dark and disturbing love for each other and their extra curricular activities.

I have never read about characters who were so serious about killing each other and I was both fascinated and a bit horrified in the best way. I loved the games they played with each other and wasn’t sure how it was going to end.

I can definitely see why she released this under a different pen name. While I have come to expect the unexpected from Beatrix, this book has more horror thriller vibes than romance, although the romance was there. It had a more serious and therefore darker tone.

I do think readers would benefit from reading Frankie’s Funhouse before reading this because while there aren’t any overlaps in characters, I think it sets better expectations for the parameters of the world.

I cannot wait to read more about this word and am looking forward to the next book.

Ash Kingsley and Colt Carter are new to me narrators and I really enjoyed both of their performances.

Dark and Twisted

This is a chilling thriller romance, brilliantly narrated by Colt Carter and Ash Kingsley. The story takes you into the twisted minds of two rival serial killers. The dynamic between them is intense, each trying to outmaneuver the other in a deadly game. The narration perfectly captures the Umbra Valley's dark, eerie atmosphere and the characters' complex emotions. The blend of horror and romance is gripping, and the chemistry between the narrators enhances the story's tension. If you enjoy dark, twisted romances, this audiobook is a must-listen.

Meet at Midnight

Meet at Midnight is the first book in the Umbra Valley series. This book is about Jack and Zoe and is told from both of their points of view.

Jack is the massacre maniac and Zoe is the one that got away. He's obsessed with her and will do anything to get her back so he can finish her off.

But what happens when he finds out Zoe's secret? Will he destroy her? Or will they get their crazy happy ending?

This book had a ton of twists that I didn't see coming. It was a fun read, and I would enjoy reading more like this in the future. This was a perfect October listen.
