About this listen

Lucy Merritt has always defined herself by her body, whether dancing in a small avant-garde company or posing for art. But she has always felt as if something is wrong with her, as if something is missing. She has never been in love.

Suddenly, in the darkness of the theater wings, a strangely affecting man enters her life. Matthew Norris, rich, handsome patron of the dance company, has decided that he wants Lucy for his own. He makes her an offer that both frightens and compels her, and they soon begin an affair characterized by only two requirements, beauty and truth.

But how truthful are Matthew and Lucy? How much of Matthew's strenuous brand of love can Lucy endure? And how long can their rigid Dom/sub relationship stay frozen in time, never growing, never moving forward?

Publishers Note: This novel contains explicit scenes of dominance and submission, discipline & training, bondage, group sex, oral sex, anal sex & double penetration, menage a trois, dubious consent, and both harsh and loving BDSM scenes.

If I could give it -1 stars, I would. A NO GO.

I'll start by saying that the performance so clinical and at some points if I wasn't paying attention I wouldn't have known whose voice it was supposed to be, not horrible and not good either, just boring. I've read kidnapping dark romances that seemed healthier than this. This woman forsakes her only friend for this Matthew and obviously not everyone is going to understand your lifestyle but she seemed to build a wall against anyone but Matthew until both the friend and Matthew put their heads together. Then he and Matthew turn out to be devious people. It disgusted me that she took him back after what he did. Everyone brainwashed her, backed her into a corner, and she allowed it! For how much these people talk about truth, this book is full of nothing but lie upon lie. I'm disgusted. I can't tell if the writer doesn't know anything about the BDSM lifestyle or if they purposely made the book like this but the level of trust these two people had was so unhealthy and the fact that a Dom would act like this is horrible. To talk crap to someome because they didn't tell you about when they were raped on YOUR time is beyond detestable and I hated him from that second on. I don't want to spoil it but it has rape themes in it and let's just say that the author must not think having sex with someone while unconscious is rape, and it's just all messed up! I'm so angry. It's been a while since I came across a book like this, a book I detest. Like I said, this is one of the most unhealthy, disgusting relationships I've ever read about, and I love twisted stories but this is just so wrong, Lucy is made into a weak creature with no will of her own and that's what I hated most. Lastly, I like sex scenes, especially BDSM, as much as the next girl but this book is absolutely full to the brim with them and in a way that didn't really promote trust at all and while some of them are necessary to the plot, some of them are long-winded. I'm telling you, from a dark romance lover, from a person that has read about the most twisted of people and been able to find some good in them, don't read this book if you expect respect and trust in any way at ANY point. This is all built upon lies and ultimately it equals successful brainwashing. I'm so done. What a waste of 10 hours of my life.
