About this listen

When he catches his fiancée in bed with another man, Jackson is set adrift on a sea of hurt and confusion. A lonely raft on the tossing waves of heartbreak, if you will. Good thing that Alexis—the cheating wench—previously booked two non-refundable tickets for a romantic cruise on the Sundance. It was supposed to be a sexy four-night Mexican getaway with wine tastings, duty-free shopping sprees, couple’s massages, amazing food, and long nights tangled in the sheets of a deluxe cabin with a sea-view balcony… all paid for with Jackson’s money.

Stupid Alexis. When Jackson decides to make the voyage anyway, cranky and humiliated, Fate throws him a life jacket in the form of Diago. Quick-witted, hilarious, and completely gorgeous, he’s everything that Jackson never knew he wanted. Through half a week of lust on the high seas, Jackson and Diago grow tantalizingly close, sharing all the activities originally meant for a pair of lovebirds. But the Sundance is back in port in just a few short days. Has Jackson found a new first mate, or is his whirlwind affair set to sink like the Titanic?

OH, SHIP! is a heartwarming strangers-to-lovers romp featuring a bisexual main character, insta!love, low drama/high spice, and more nautical puns than you can shake a harpoon at. It’s trigger-free and good, unclean fun for (adult) listeners of all persuasions. Bon voyage!

Def nailed the cruise experience, great narrator

I was given an audio copy for review. I love supporting new narrators and this review is in no way a reflection on the narrator. I enjoyed the narration, Wesley Lynch, did a great job bringing these characters to life. His voice is fitting to two characters he voiced, Jackson & Diago.

Now the actual book has issues. There’s language used that definitely made me uncomfortable. Racial stereotypes used several times that we know are not actually true so why perpetuate the stigma? I loved the cruise setting as I am an avid cruiser. That aspect of the book was accurate. But that cannot help me overlook the glaring issues with it.

Cute Cruise Story

I liked the premise of the cruise ship and the instalust of this M/M rom-com. I think the performance was a little lacking in the delivery at times. I sped up the speed and that helped. I did enjoy the narrators different voices for each character and the background sounds at times as well. Overall cute story.

Loved it

I loved Oh, Ship! and struggled to put it down. Wesley Lynch voice really brings this story to life and makes you love the characters even more. When Jackson finds his girlfriend Alexis cheating on him. He decides to go the cruise she set up with his money alone. Jackson is upset and feels like a fool. When he meets Diago at a bar on the ship things change. With each activity they do together they grow closer. Could their happiness continue once they leave the ship?

Cute, but wished for a little bit more 😊

Note*
Not sure if some part of my review can be considered as mini spoilers or not (and I couldn’t find a “spoiler” box to check just in case) so read if you don’t mind it, it’s nothing major though just more little hints maybe.

I think this story was pretty sweet and cute, but it does have some problems in it.

Jack comes of as kinda a bit misguided/ miss intended racist in some areas during the story (misguided, is that the correct wording for it), especially when taking about the ship staff and I didn’t like that much at all, so it kinda soured the story for me a bit. The descriptions about the staff is quite rude (and I think there should be a warning about it before the story).

It’s kinda surprising with the language and word choices Jack uses since he is supposed to be a junior associate lawyer (he sounds more like a 18 year old fratboy most of the time, rather than a 27 year old lawyer), and I don’t understand why the authors choosed for him to use the word “boy” for everything (describing guys/ men, himself, Diago) instead of male or man, it got a bit repetitive and slightly irritating after a while, even switching it to “guy/ guys” sometimes would have been nicer.

Diago was very cute as a character, though I wished we got to know a bit more about him (kinda wished the story was dual point of view, just so I could get to know his thoughts). He seemed strong, sweet yet kinda insecure at odd moments (makes me wonder about his past), but but otherwise a sweet boy (yeah I know I used “boy” 😘 .
Though he could be kinda rude at some points as well, and kinda quick to anger( and liked to waste expensive dinners 😅 ), though Jack did kinda deserved it bit as well, since he was a bit clumsy and spacey 😅

The ending though, it sadly felt a bit rushed up, like they ran out of space or something and cut of a big chunk of it and patched it up best they could, it felt like a lot of it was missing.
It had sooooo much more potential for some extra romance stuff! I was a bit sad it ended.

All in all I would definitely still recommend the book, it is sweet and the naughty bits are very nice and sweet!
I kinda wish for a spin-off for this book, I still want to read more about these two love birds 🥰

The narrator did a good job, and had a quite nice pitch of voice. I could hear a faint hint of an accent in some words and it made be a bit curious what it could be from, I found it a bit charming 😊

( Sorry if there are grammar issues, spelling mistakes or word switches, I’m dyslexic and English isn’t my first language, I tend to mix up British and American words, especially when writing).

Cute Spicy Cruise Rom-com

I enjoyed the premise and many of the scenes reminded me of the cruise that I was recently on. The characters were believable and I was rooting for them the entire time.  The book is separated by days making some sections longer than you would normally expect.  The spicy parts were 🌶🌶.

The narration dragged a bit at times. I increased the speed to 1.2 (my usual is .90) and that helped.  I had no problem differentiating between Jack & Diago.  The few female voices were too cartoonish for me but they were very minor roles. If I could rate performance at 4.75 I would.

All in all it was a fun rom-com with a cute play on words title.

Spicy cute MM

Jackson is heartbroken after he finds his fiancée cheating on him so he decides to go on their cruise alone. Once he meets Diago, life gets much better. They have amazing chemistry and are very much made for each other. Wesley Lynch did an excellent job narrating this book. He portrayed Jackson and Diago perfectly.

Cruise ship rom-com

Hmm. I had a hard time with how to rate this. I really with we could use half stars. I would say this is about a 3.5 for me, but I rounded up.

I really enjoyed the set up, the location, and both MCs. I was invested in where they ended up. I did feel like at the end though, there had been hints at more serious conversations that needed to be had but weren’t. Probably due to it being a rom-com, but then I don’t think they needed to be introduced. So, some things felt a bit unresolved at the end for me.

This was a new to me narrator. Overall, I did enjoy his narration. It did take me a bit to get into it, but not a lot of time. I really enjoyed his Diago and Jack. His side characters were mostly amusing. Some were a little over the top, but I think that was intentional.

I would have liked to get to know Diago a bit more. I would definitely be interested in listening to a sequel, because I felt there was more to resolve at the end. And I did enjoy this book and it was a pretty quick listen.

Charming

I received this audiobook for an honest review.

The storyline started off kinda slow. I wasn't expecting the story to be broken out by "days" instead of chapters. Once Jack met Diago, the plot picked up pretty quickly.

It because funny with the innuendos were plentifully given. I enjoyed it and am looking forward to more from the author.

New Love on the Open Water—Oh, Ship! Delivers!

I received Oh, Ship! as an audiobook for an honest review, and it did not disappoint! When Jackson’s fiancée cheats on him, he takes their already-booked romantic cruise solo—only to meet Diago, a gorgeous and hilarious breath of fresh air who turns Jackson’s heartbreak into a high-seas adventure. Over four steamy days, Jackson finds himself unexpectedly captivated, making the cruise a whirlwind romance rather than a pity party.

Wesley Lynch’s narration really brought this story to life; though some side characters were a bit exaggerated (in a hilarious way), his performance kept me hooked. Both the authors and narrator were new to me, but this definitely won’t be my last encounter with their work!
