About this listen

Ruby is old enough to know better. Gabriel is young enough not to care.

Ruby:

I never wanted to move back to Waterford. Twenty years after high school, the mean girls still treat me like set decoration. When Gabriel came into my library, joking about the alphabet and putting 'U, N, I' together, I wrote him off and tried to forget him. Who needs a young stud when I have all the book boyfriends I could ever need? After a hot kiss in a hotel hallway leaves me wanting more, there's nothing I won't do to get it; I'll even attend my dreaded high school reunion.

Gabriel:

I never wanted to come to Waterford, but when I'm bound by duty to attend my best friend's funeral, I pack a bag and go. WIth nothing to do between my arrival and departure besides sit around and wait, I decide to visit the local library. I was counting on musty, old stacks of books and geriatric librarians. I wasn't counting on vibrant, beautiful, brilliant Ruby. When a hot kiss leaves me breathless, I'll go to any length to see her again, even if that means crashing a party and sweeping her off her feet.

I was really expecting and older woman. This was not the difference in age that was expected. These two were a match for each other. It was sweet and sexy in its own way. Will listen again.

I love the dual narration. It really brings the story to life and both narrators did a great job. The story is short but hot and has a HEA. Gabriel is just passing through town, visiting for his best friend's funeral, and he meets the local librarian Ruby. They keep bumping into each other and keep fighting their attraction. It finally comes to a climax when Gabe crashes Ruby's 20th high school reunion and convinces Ruby to take a chance on him and love.

This is a quick listen. Super sweet insta love with a few spicy scenes thrown in. If you like reading about librarians or teachers finding their HEA, this is for you. Big city meets small town in all the best ways.

Ruby had no intention of coming home to Waterford. There aren't any special memories of high school, so why would she consider the 20-year reunion something she'd enjoy. It's her friends who have her "best interests" at heart and talk her into getting together with her classmates at Waterford High. For his part, Gabriel didn't want to come to Waterford for his best friend's funeral, but he feels that it's the least thing he can do for him and his family. He has time to kill and he wanders over to the library where he finds his own Marian the Librarian. Ruby and Gabriel are two unique characters. Both have interest in music, arts and books and pretty soon they have the library alive with The Music Man. Ruby is a fabulous Marian and Gabriel is a hilarious Harold Hill. I really enjoyed the story, the characters and the premise.
The narration is wonderfully done by Hannah Marie and Nick Crawford. Their dynamic, well-modulated voice and perfect pace brought each of the characters to life with a unique personality and attitude.

Delightful!
