About this listen

David Kerrick is a man with nothing left to lose. Betrayed by the woman he adores, deported to Australia for murdering her lover, he has lost the will to live - until the lure of the outback claims his soul.

Captivated by the sweeping wild beauty of the land, its freedom and mystery, he sets out to make a piece of it his own. Battling drought and dingoes, bushfires and bushrangers, he lives for the moment until the past comes back to haunt him.

Wealthy and beautiful, Alexandra Hammond has every reason to disdain the penniless convict who has killed her cousin. But Alexandra is a woman with the strength to judge the truth for herself, and the determination to forge her own destiny. Together, they will take on the vast outback, burying the bitterness of the past and planting the seeds of a shining future.

Narration flounders

Story is nice and captivating but narrators accents are awkward and the Hereford distracting. Would love to follow the series but with different narration.

Worth the purchase

I enjoyed this book but found the plot and especially the ending somewhat lacking in substance. It did however have an engaging historical context that kept me engaged.

Aussie Accent

Any additional comments?

I really enjoyed the story but these books should be read by an Aussie... somebody with a REAL Australian accent. It would have been so much better.

sappy romance

Whoever wrote this sequel to "Outback" by Aaron Fletcher, its not the same Aaron Fletcher. Characters in this story are constructed of cardboard and candy held together with sap and provide stilted dialog full of 50-cent words. Portrayal of Outback life and the toil of running a sheep station in the early 19th century is pushed far from sight to make room for over-romanticized cartoon players.
