About this listen

My name is Devin, but everybody calls me Sketch. I opened my own tattoo shop two years ago, and I've finally gotten to the point where I'm going to be able to give my wife everything she's ever wanted. I'm going to be able to take time off and spend a day a week with her. In fact, tonight, I stopped and grabbed some wine, got her flowers, and those chocolates she likes.

What I wasn't prepared for was to be met at the front door by her carrying her shit out.

She loves me, but she's not in love with me anymore. What kind of bullshit excuse is that? I've left her alone too often, I've been completely focused on one goal, and apparently she's sick of waiting.

So here I stand. Half the man I was, pissed as f - k, because while I was busy making a better life for us, she was under the impression I was leaving her lonely. I know one day she'll see what I've been doing has been for us, and when that day comes, she can damn well come crawling back to me.

Not Your Typical Romance

Sketch is not the typical romance book. This is the story of two people who grow apart within a marriage, then find thier way together again. Its packed with emotion. The author does a nice job of giving a full story in a short time... Listening time is around five hours. It might have been better had it been lengthened but as is, I was satisfied. There is a nice message about reestablishing intimacy in a long-term relationship.

Where the book failed most was in the narration and production. There were several errors that were corrected but the error wasn't cut out. There were several mispronounced words. And for the love of everything holy, DO NOT LAUGH as a character. It's downright creepy!

I will recommend this book to others but I'll suggest they read the ebook.

Terrible reading

I had to stop listening. The narrator keeps mispronouncing words and that god-awful accent he used for voicing Reaper (cheesy gumshoe circa Columbo) is the reason I'm going to have to put off reading the next book with him as a character. It's going to take forever to get rid of that awful rendition. Beyond disappointed.

Updated version of Happily Ever After

Sketch is an updated version of the traditional Happily Ever After novel-- As a hopeless romantic, I'm a sucker for books with Happily Ever After endings. This book hit on a topic that most authors avoid -- just because you find someone you want to spend the rest of your life with, doesn't mean things are going to be perfect. That, however, doesn't mean that people should just give up when the sunshine fades and the roses die. Anyone who has ever been in a long term relationship knows that it can be HARD! But if both parties work hard enough and don't lose sight of their love and commitment, you can get through the rough patches and come out on the other side.

Sketch and Nina have decided to try to put their marriage back together after a 6 month separation. The author takes you through their journey to become a happily married couple. Sketch and Nina don't try to get their relationship back to where it used to be not only because they realize that it obviously didn't work, but also because they have both become different people. Written mainly from the perspective of Sketch, a hot tattoo artist, this book is emotional, fun, flirty, and heart wrenching.

I've been a huge fan of Laramie's for years but this book might just be my new favorite. Highly recommended for anyone, whether you've read all her other books or are new to this author.

Sketch

I adored how this book was more about what happens after “the happily ever after “, two people who grow apart and what they deal with in separation. Sketch and Nina have an obvious connection and loads of chemistry but can they work out their issues.
The only thing that was bothersome was the narration. The voices he used, plus some accents were off putting.

Sketch

This was a good book about what happens after the happily ever after. I loved how they found each other again. It was an enjoyable book. Zachary Michael did a good job with the narration. I received this free copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
