About this listen

Kidnapped on his wedding day in the 12th century and forced into a thousand years of servitude by a cold-hearted faery princess, rugged blacksmith Aidan dreams of nothing but revenge on his captor. Then the spell of a beautiful witch awakens him to the present day - and a passionate desire. But to build a future, he must first confront his past.…

Modern witch and magic-shop owner Brooke doesn’t think her life is missing anything, until a wayward enchantment lands a brooding medieval blacksmith in her spell room - and in her arms. Yet even after their passion proves to be truly magical, Aidan’s first commitment is to vengeance. Now Brooke must team up with friends and ancient warriors alike - and push her own powers to their limits - to save her love from the wrath of an evil fae.

From the best-selling author of Changeling Moon, this thrilling and sensual novel adds a new chapter to Dani Harper’s Celtic folklore-themed Grim Series.

Almost perfect..

Any additional comments?

This was a good story but, as a lot of authors are wont to do, there was just too many pages without anyone saying anything, just on and on, telling a story without really letting the characters be involved. Which is too bad, IMO..The story was very good, however. The secondary characters, George, Olivia, Morgan and Rhys were all wonderful. And I really liked Lurien. Celynnen was simply insane, disgusting and more than a little whacked. As much as I enjoyed this book I think I liked Storm Warrior a little more. AND I will read any more of the Grim Series that comes from Dani Harper.

As to the narrator: Over all I enjoy Ms. Eyre's narrating. She does male voices, even though all the men sound the same, just fine. BUT sounding the same is much, much better than some narrators who don't even bother to lower their voices for men, which leaves you always wondering who's talking, the hero or the heroine?

I would also like to say that the description tells us what the book is about or we can zip over to Amazon and look at reviews. This is AUDIBLE! What we need to review is the narrator. Does he or she suck? Why? Is he or she too nasal-y, too sweet for the kind of book he or she is reading, to gruff, too bland, too robotic, lacks emotion. Is he or she doing nothing but reading the book? Not changing his or her voice for the male and female voices? Is the narrator sounding the same whether she or he is reading a whisper spoken?
Most of us on AUDIBLE don't really care what the book is about. We want to know about the narrator! This IS AUDIBLE, after all.

A MYTHICAL REALM, MAGIC & MAGNETIC CHEMISTRY

What really blows you away with this new series is the fantastical world-building ability that Dani Harper has when she created this Fae Kingdom deep beneath the Welsh Hills with it's characters, creatures, myths, human prisoners and it's hidden enemies all held within. But worst of all is the innocent blacksmith Aidan who, in 1124, was kidnapped then cruelly turned into a Grim on the whim of a spoilt beautiful but evil Princess for not bedding her even though she tried to sexually lure him every time she saw him.

Brooke is a good witch who nearly brought her house down when she unexpectedly summoned Aidan during his desperate bid to escape his heartbreaking captivity that had spanned decades. There was a Hubble bubbling of sexual chemistry, plenty of toil as they tried to protect themselves, and their friends, from the wicked Fae Princess and yes trouble when they underestimated her reach. Brooke has three cats who nearly stole the show but so too did the sub story that involved Laurien The Lord Of The Hunt.

Aidan and Brooke don't get together until there's been plenty of back history referring to Aidan's kidnapping, his blacksmith's life and his awful transformation into a Grim (a big black frightening dog who are summoned when someone is about to die). And also how Brooke is struggling with her magic and what good close friends she has around her to support her..... who are going to be needed when Aidan 'drops' in from nowhere

Worth a credit? Mainly dual POV's but there is extra input from other characters too, a good well known and liked narrator but she didn't quite get to grips with all the male voices, romance, tender times leading to a few nice sex scenes, suspense, humor and a bit of a predictable twist. Pure fantastical fantasy at it's best with a downtrodden handsome hunky hero and a feisty witch who came to his aid and together they made some powerful magic. If you like the genre, IMO, you can't go wrong with this series and yes, it's a creditworthy listen.

Magic And Love

Revenge or love. What a wonderful story that just lights up the imagination. I love the fantastical fae story where humans prevail. The storyline and characters just draw you in and the narrator just tops off the story to bring it to life.

Carried along with the story

This is a good follow on to the first book, slightly less frustrating in the female character. Good for the escapist entertainment it is.

Another fantastic edition

Another great addition to the grim series. I'm hoping to get more Lorian and the Queen in the next book but wow, this one was great. I loved the story and when I got to the end found that I wasn't quite ready to leave the world behind. I love the plot that is
slowly starting to pop up and I'm looking forward to seeing where it ends up!

This book is so well written and wonderfully narrated. I love the characters throughout the series and how they tie in to each other’s stories.

Magical

really enjoyed this magical story! These two were a great compliment to each other once they finally got on the same page. Danger heightens all the senses and when they find their way to each other, it truly is magical.

Still Loving this series

Who can say no to a steamy fairy tale featuring a big, strong Scott? Not I and I bet you can't either after these books.

Rather redundant

Would you be willing to try another book from Dani Harper? Why or why not?

Yes.

Any additional comments?

Could've done without the sexual descriptions. This book was a bit 'cheesy' in places and would lose my interest. I like the overall story line and book 1 but this one was a bit disappointing.
