Having fallen into a relationship rut, Sandy rents a beach house for the Labor Day weekend with the hope that the vacation away rekindles hers and Jim's relationship.
Eager to get away for the holiday and have some adult fun, Brett and Allie also rent a beach house for the weekend. Unfortunately, through a computer glitch, it turns out to be the same house that Jim and Sandy have rented.
An impending tropical storm forces them to share the house, but that's not the only thing that gets shared. The couples swap partners and although the spontaneous liaison could have resulted in the end of Sandy's and Jim's marriage, it does not. It actually does for them what Sandy had originally intended the vacation to do. They have a better understanding of each other and their relationship.
