About this listen
At Chesapeake Bay University, tomorrow is Hell Day. When freshman pledges Cassidy, Peter, Emma Jo, and Buddy are offered a way out of the mysterious initiation, little do they know they’re being played. The “dare” they must complete is a prank. They are meant to be caught—and to be found guilty, in court, of crimes for which there is only one possible sentence. Nurse Reyes-Garcia knows just what to do with misbehaving college kids. Their punishments will be carried out on live television. For two days, they’ll face their deepest, most intimate, and secret fears. Before they’re done, their shared sufferings will bring them closer together in ways that not even Nurse Reyes-Garcia could have predicted. And the students who set them up in the first place cannot remain hidden for long.

unique and well written
Thank you to the author for gifting me this audiobook in exchange for an honest review. Chesapeake Bay is original, that’s for sure. It’s H Day, and the freshman pledges Cassidy, Peter, Emma Jo, and Buddy have succumbed to the peer pressures of university life. They are tricked into initiation dares and arrested. Their punishment is ten times worse than the crime itself, as each pledge is forced to face their fears as they’re subjected to humiliation and made to suffer. D.A. Maddox’s writing skills are excellent. The storyline was written very vividly. I must admit, this was not my cup of tea. Many reviewers enjoyed it and saw the punishments as bdsm and enticing. Unfortunately, I did not feel the same and was turned off rather than enticed by the scenarios these young adults were put in. But I will say that the author wrote the story in such a way that I was attached to the characters. They had depth to them. They were written so well that I felt concern for them and was intrigued and angered by their personal plights. So even not caring for the story, you can’t deny it’s magnificently written when it draws intense emotions out of you. Lexi Evans is one of my favorite narrators, and she was cast perfectly for this role. Her timing, pacing, pitch, and tone was spot on. She transitioned between each character (and POV) expertly. You could easily follow along with who’s POV she was portraying because she brilliantly made each character distinguishable. She definitely brought the book to life.

The Punishment club
Amazing, this book is loaded with surprises, innocence, love, growth and friendship. Once I started reading/ listening to this book I couldn’t stop. I found myself wanting to get to the next book before I wrote my review and yes it’s a well written story. I have to give it up to the narrators, they were excellent. As for Erick, Emma Jo, Buddy and Cassidy they started off as total stranger, but has grown being each other’s strength, confidents and love. I must say I love that there bound has gotten strong as the story developed. I also do adore the Gacias’s and Ms. Cruse for testing their limits as well as encouraging them to finish strong. Most of all I love the maturity they show when come face to face with the ones responsible for the Dare Dungeons
