Taking place over two weeks, The Subjugation of M tells the story of one young wife's desperate struggle to remain loyal to a good and loving husband while at the same time, feeling a part of herself she didn't even know exist, emerge and fall under the spell of the man she comes to know as Master. Through a brand new mobile smartphone he gifts her so he can monitor and control her movements and feelings, and a series of clandestine sensually-charged meetings at a hotel in town, Martina is slowly subdued by Gary. Then he explains that his wife, Lydia, also wants to be close to her; that as their relationship develops and she becomes more and more his sexual property, that she will need Lydia to turn to for comfort. Gary is correct. Martina finds that the beautiful, fragrant Lydia is indeed a comfort. Soon, Lydia brings Martina to bed, where Martina confesses to her all that is developing between herself and Gary. A lovers triangle evolves and Martina becomes hopelessly ensnared. Also, while Tom is away, one night a week, Gary calls to the house. Martina's journey, from a loyal wife to Tom, to M, Master's slave, continues through a series of sensual and erotic acts of submission to his will. She is teased, whipped, conquered and eventually broken. But from the ruins comes another person, hidden within Martina; this individual is M. Both Martina and M struggle for dominance. Martina realises she cannot leave Tom. She loves him too much. He is the foundation on which her happiness and sanity rests. But M will not give up Master. There is only one choice left to them. Martina must tell Tom what has happened to her. The resulting chaos is played out over three sex-charged days and two nights as Tom struggles to come to terms with what Martina tells him. The Subjugation of M challenges the notion of what we consider normal sexual relationships. Through Martina we face and examine questions about the meaning and value of monogamy, marriage and sexual norms. Through Tom's torturous journey we are forced to consider: how much of a person are we entitled to own? Can we truly, even through marriage, own all a person's sexual being? Are we even entitled to that power? Reading M won't solve these sexual and moral dilemmas, but it will tempt readers to explore them in an effort to find answers. Marriage
