 Nova slays tentacle monsters, keeping an oath to never harm an innocent person in the process. Years pass without any sign of the beasts, until word travels across the countryside that one has returned.

It's parasitic, and attached to a man named William. She goes on horseback to visit him right away, traveling for days to reach her destination.

Even after years of hacking tentacles into pieces, she's never seen anything like this.
