About this listen
When I taught Psychology 225 (Human Sexuality) I was constantly amazed how little students understood about intimate relationships, sexual functioning, sexual anatomy and even their own bodies. When I asked if their parents provided sexual information, most said they only got the one " Big Talk." Studies have shown that many parents believe they gave their children thorough and detailed information on sexual matters but, indeed, most did not. I believe that the best people to provide sexual information are the parents. So, I wrote this book to help parents provide an ongoing thorough sharing of sexual information for all developmental stages and avoid the one "Big Talk."
It is also sad that sex-education in public schools mostly focuses on pregnancy and childbirth. Sexual attitudes, behaviors and beliefs are seldom discussed.
This is the only book that combines Piaget's theory of cognitive development with basic age-appropriate information on human sexuality and relationships. Moreover, concrete suggestions are included for talking with children of all ages. This book is intended for parents who want to provide their children with an ongoing comprehensive sex education. This book is also beneficial for adolescents and adults who only got the "Big Talk" and wish to have a broader understanding of human sexuality and relationships.
