About this listen

Knox Bauer's life has unraveled to the point of no return. Fighting to fill the emptiness inside himself, he seeks solace in unfamiliar beds with unfamiliar women. As guardian to his three younger brothers, he can't seem to do a thing right. But this can't go on...they look up to him in every way and all he's done lately is prove how messed up he really is. Needing a change, he attends a local sex addict’s anonymous meeting, where he finds himself tempted by the alluring instructor, McKenna. Twenty-one-year-old McKenna is trying to make amends. After losing her parents in a horrific accident, she knows if she can just be good enough, maybe she can forgive herself for what happened. With her newly acquired degree in counseling, she begins leading a sex addicts group where she meets the troubled Knox and her life takes on complications she never bargained for. She doesn't have time for a bad boy who only wants to take her to bed, even if her body disagrees. The fixer in her wants to help, but trusting Knox's true motivations might take more courage than she has.

When I break

This book was short and had a cliffhanger ending. I really need to read the next book in order to rate this book properly.

Narration made it tough

Tough to follow. The narration was a problem. JG has a great voice but he doesn't do a good job with the two main characters. If there were not a break between chapters announcing the character the chapter was primary. If not paying attention or pulled away it was hard to get back into the story until the next chapter

Addiction

This book had a strong plot, well-developed characters and an easy flow. While i didnt particularly care for the narrator, the emotions were still present and drew me right into the book. McKenna and Knox just seemed to fit. Having Knox interact with his family endeared him to me so having the secondary characters was necessary. I'm hopeful he'll overcome his addiction and the next book will bring us closer to an HEA. Onto the next audiobook!

I Don't Like Cliffhangers...

This story is too short to end in a cliffhanger. Actually it is three books to tell this story. It is of course not a new premise, and it also lacked a jolt or sizzle. the narrator as a male didn't do justice to the heroine's part. It felt off. So? Long story short, it ended when it was getting interesting.

When Knox and McKenna are together after the fight between Brian and Knox.

Oh, my gosh, KNOX. LOVE HIM. There is so much more to him than his exterior would suggest. I can't wait to learn more about him.

She made him want to be a better man.

Addictions addictions

Would you consider the audio edition of When I Break (Volume 1) to be better than the print version?

No

What other book might you compare When I Break (Volume 1) to and why?

Two books, Lead Me Not by Meredith Walters and The Thrill of It by Lauren Blakely. Both books are about addictions, Lead Me Not was about Drug Addiction and The Thrill of It was about Sex and Love Addiction. Books about addictions are intense and despite me not wanting to fall in love with the characters, i just cant help it.

What about Josh Goodman’s performance did you like?

I liked his voice. It's male and strong and sexy. But he doesnt show much emotion in it.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Every one has a addiction

Any additional comments?

I really enjoy the book. The plot was good, the characters were complex and hard not to love. I like how mature McKenna is, and i totally relate to her about how she express her feelings and emotions. I like Knox with his family, he works hard to make his brothers happy and to keep them safe but sadly he lose himself into buzz and sex. I really think McKenna and Knox would make their life better. Their connection is so strong and I'm sure that will def help them. But..... Things among addictions arent easy... I cant wait to read/listent to the next book.

Wow!

I cant believe how amazing this book was. I was impressed. I do think this would have been better with a male and female voice actor though. Such a great story!

Not much happens

This book is boring; I feel like nothing is happening except Knox talking about his dead mom. I also had a really hard time with a man narrating the female parts. He’s a good narrator, but a female narrator is needed for the female chapters.
