Story
Karl Strong is lonely. Not quite alone, which is, perhaps, worse. His best friend moved away, his mother died, and his father has crawled into a hole and pulled it in after him. He is a talented athlete, but after high school, he lets himself go and dies of a heart attack. Luckily, this is Middle Falls, where death is rarely the end of the story. Karl will have every chance to find what he needs.

Enjoyed but……

I enjoyed the story but did not care for the person doing the reading. Instead of smooth, it was somewhat slow and halting. Lacked connection to the story.

I enjoyed the story. The performance of the main character was good. I didn’t like when they added other people to read other characters. I think they should have stayed with just the one person reading.

The story and performance were good but I sort of lost track of where everything was going. Not sure if it was the story or me being distracted because I wasn’t as engaged in the story.

Story
In pitch-perfect voices, Kathryn Stockett creates three extraordinary women whose determination to start a movement of their own forever changes a town, and the way women—mothers, daughters, caregivers, friends—view one another. A deeply moving novel filled with poignancy, humor, and hope, The Help is a timeless and universal story about the lines we abide by, and the ones we don't.
