Story
I’m a second-rate artist living a solitary existence in my late parents’ rundown house. So why would a team of killers want to murder me and frame it as a suicide? Seems a fact worth knowing. I survive the ordeal only to discover my would-be executioners left behind a suicide note written in words that sound uncannily like mine. But that’s not the most disturbing part. The note reveals a secret from my past nobody could possibly know about—one that’s been haunting my life for eighteen years.

Story
Quinn Alexander has committed an unthinkable crime. To avoid spending her life in prison, Quinn makes a run for it. She leaves behind her home, her job, and her family. She grabs her passport and heads for the northern border before the police can discover what she's done. But when an unexpected snowstorm forces her off the road, Quinn must take refuge at the broken-down, isolated Baxter Motel. The handsome and kindly owner, Nick Baxter, is only too happy to offer her a cheap room for the night. Unfortunately, the Baxter Motel isn't the quiet safe haven it seemed to be.

Great Narration and Writing, BUT...
Reviewed: 01-29-25
The Narrators did amazingly well and the author's writing and character development is soot on.
But...
It's written in first person and the author used a deceptive writing trick with the villain. I don't want to give any spoilers - the book is definitely a good listen - so, I'm not going to spell out the lousy technique. Just know that a talented writer like Frieda McFadden could have done much, much better. That was the only disappointing aspect of this audiobook. And that is an achievement all by itself

Story
Conversations with the Devil, Expansion is a thought-provoking collection of vignettes that delve deep into the complexities of the Human Condition. It is a powerful exploration of the human psyche, capturing the inner turmoil and conflicts we all face as human beings. As in this collections predecessor, the Devil is a central figure in each story, while the Main Characters vary. The Evil One herein is more like the Native American deity Old Man Coyote than the Satan from the Bible. Plus, he continues to be on Vacation, Paid Time Off, or doing Hellish Community Outreach.

The narrators are crazy talented and breathe life inti the characters, making them seem like real people.
Highly recommended. One of the best audiobooks I've heard.

Story
Zenith of Naïveté is written by Daniel Wescott It is a fictionalized account of actual events, not merely based on them. I’ve changed the names to protect everyone. Everything in here happened, just not in the order presented. I’ve condensed about two years into around a week. Plus, I’ve thrown my adult views into the mix. You know, the way all of us keep our memories. For my brother and me, the events depicted in this story were turning points in our lives and relationship with our Mom, each other, and our father. I was in my thirties before I believed my Mom was mentally ill, and ...

Really sad story. I understand choosing a computer generated narrator, it 's a short story. But, the narration misses the nuance and takes away from the experience

Story
Upon the end of days, Lucifer, the Fallen One, that Infernal of Infernals and Murderer of Hope, wonders if his Father will bother to raise another race after Armageddon. After all, he'll only have to tempt them - again - to certain death. Their choice, not his. On God's behalf, Archangel Michael responds. So begins a series of letters between two brothers, at once cordial and combative, about their purpose, their fears, their familial estrangement, and their Father's great folly: the human race.

Dialogues with the Devil review
Pompously narrow and unimaginative writing. Characters have identical mannerisms and beat-it-over-your-head presentation styles.
Narration joins the melee, adding even more to the lousy character development.
It's like the author and the narrator both attend the same legalistic, pew-laden church.
Don't waste your time.

I enjoyed the sayings in this book by Daniel Wescott. I think it's his first attempt. So, nice to see his progression.
The AI generated narration sounds a bit off and has weird moments of hesitation mid-sentence. Not too sure about that.
Anyway, definitely worth listening to.
