A hurried and badly written conclusion
Reviewed: 11-14-21
The first book in the series showed promise - it wasn't great but it wasn't terrible. A lot of the plot seemed contrived, without point, and the author spent inordinate amount of time killing off newly backstoried characters.
The second was interesting, but in the sort of "complete mess" way, where the book managed to complete albeit with a bit if a crazy plot twist. It wasn't really the same book as the first, that should have been a warning sign.
This last book, it would be better to ignore the first half of the book completely, and then skip to the interstellar ballad riddle wanted to tell in the middle... this might have made a decent story in its own right, but it was rushed and as a result poorly written. Avoid this series, or at the least read the first book and skip the second two.

Story
Stephen R. Covey's book, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, has been a top seller for the simple reason that it ignores trends and pop psychology for proven principles of fairness, integrity, honesty, and human dignity. Celebrating its 15th year of helping people solve personal and professional problems, this special anniversary edition includes a new foreword and afterword written by Covey that explore whether the 7 Habits are still relevant and answer some of the most common questions he has received over the past 15 years.

Solid book, worth a re-read.
Reviewed: 11-01-21
It's a book of seven concepts you will find elsewhere - but that's not a bad thing. It gives a clear set of expectations and meets them well. If you intend to *follow* the principles, it is worth a re-read. Only doesn't get a 5 because, it is not ground breaking.

Story
In lyric, accessible prose, Carlo Rovelli invites us to consider questions about the nature of time that continue to puzzle physicists and philosophers alike. For most listeners, this is unfamiliar terrain. We all experience time, but the more scientists learn about it, the more mysterious it appears. We think of it as uniform and universal, moving steadily from past to future, measured by clocks. Rovelli tears down these assumptions one by one, revealing a strange universe where, at the most fundamental level, time disappears.

Good Intro To Quantum Time
Reviewed: 09-26-21
Compelling beginning, carlos goes into an introduction of how our understanding of time has changed, where it has come from, and how we are beginning to understand it. However, he ends with a loosely put together bit of somewhat lazy philosophy which leaves more questions than answers. The end the book is more a personal reckoning with the authors life than a compelling journey.
All in all, good writing and Benedict Cumberbatch reads exceptionally well.

Story
In Everthing Is F*cked, Mark Manson turns his gaze from the inevitable flaws within each individual self to the endless calamities taking place in the world around us. Drawing from the pool of psychological research on these topics, as well as the timeless wisdom of philosophers such as Plato, Nietzsche, and Tom Waits, he dissects religion and politics and the uncomfortable ways they have come to resemble one another. He looks at our relationships with money, entertainment, and the internet, and how too much of a good thing can psychologically eat us alive.

If you weren't paying attention at the beginning, you'll probably take a different meaning at the end.
Otherwise, light hearted book on why we're fucked, some ways to think about it.

Story
In a world full of super powers, Felix had a pretty crappy one. After learning to harness his ability to modify any item he owns, he now runs a corporation that is rapidly expanding - Legion. After tangling with the local Heroes guild they’ve finally settled into a semblance of stability. Sounds great on paper. Run your company, make money, be your own boss, settle down. Except that with running a business, comes an inordinate amount of responsibilities. Like making sure everything keeps running and your people are paid.

Story
In a world full of super powers, Felix has a pretty crappy one. He has the ability to modify any item he owns. To upgrade anything. Sounds great on paper. Almost like a video game. Except that the amount of power it takes to actually change, modify, or upgrade anything worthwhile is beyond his abilities. With that in mind, Felix settled into a normal life. A normal job. His entire world changes when the city he lives in is taken over by a super villain. Becoming a country of one city. A city state.
