the story was interesting even though a bit preachy.
the voice, however, was mostly nasally and a bit robotic, however, each character is given their own voice so it wasn't all monotone.

from the consistency of the voices to the character development, this is great!
there's always something exciting going on- even if it's a little predictable.

If you've seen Far Scape (and was able to get past the awful first couple episodes) and the Andromeda TV series- this kind of rolls on that genre and character layout.
I'm not a salesman, I hope i didn't lose anyone with this review... it really was a fun story and audio experience.

Yarros- we need to talk.
i waited (what?) a year for this to finally come out and THAT'S how you choose to end this?
a) There better be another book
& b) it better get here soon!! I don't want to wait another year!
The story is consistent with the other 2 books- just as much excitement.
but also, way too much went into a kiss scene. they were just kissing!
The voice actors (especially the main girl for Violet) did great! she put all the right emotions into each scene.
now, I'll just skulk around bitterly for a few weeks because that was absolutely no way to end this book. especially without some kind of epilogue.

first: for the love of reading, "stick-to-it'd-ness" has a word for it- it's called perseverance! way, way more enticing and appealing to read and listen to than "stick-to-it'd-ness"
second: the reader is monotone
third: there has to be better ikigai iterations out there... this is unsophisticated and rather droll.
points for being simple and philosophical

i am impressed with the storyline, when you think you know what's coming next there's a curve ball- since all is not as it seems.
I'm also completely blown away by the narration! The female narrator is phenomenal, a fantastic story teller! The male narrator only had about 5 minutes at the end, so i don't have an opinion on his narration.
There's 2, maybe 3, chapters dedicated to sex- so if you're not into that kind of stuff, it's easy to skip over without missing much of the actual story.
Overall, great writing and great narration. I couldn't stop listening, and I'm usually only listening when I'm driving but I had to listen when i got home, while i brushed my teeth, and even doing the dishes.

i must have missed the warning that this was a sexual fantasy novel. i hate romance and i definitely don't like erotic novels.
very disappointing as i was enjoying it up until it got way, way too descriptive and became apparent what this novel was.

This is full of useless, meandering thoughts. Constant repeating of words all throughout the book. We get it, "Hevy Toxic Metals" is bad. but i swear he starts every single sentence in that chapter with these words.

Sara's story is imaginative and compelling.
Jeff Hays does fantastic work with a gripping performance throughout the entire book. i love how each character has their own voice, including any noises they might make (like the use of translaters!)
