Story
In retreat from a devastating loss and crushing injustice, Katie lives alone in a fortresslike stone house on Jacob’s Ladder island. Once a rising star in the art world, she finds refuge in her painting. The neighboring island of Ringrock houses a secret: a government research facility. And now two agents have arrived on Jacob’s Ladder in search of someone—or something—they refuse to identify. Although an air of menace hangs over these men, an infinitely greater threat has arrived, one so strange even the island animals are in a state of high alarm.

An amazing story that immediately drew me in. Mr Koontz excels once again in the paranormal while courageously weaving in truths that resonate in our troubled times.

Story
In 1876, in a mining camp called Roaring Fork in the Colorado Rockies, 11 miners were killed by a rogue grizzly bear. Corrie Swanson has arranged to examine the miners' remains. When she makes a shocking discovery, town leaders try to stop her from exposing their community's dark and bloody past. Just as Special Agent Pendergast of the FBI arrives to rescue his protege, the town comes under siege by a murderous arsonist who - with brutal precision - begins burning down multimillion-dollar mansions with the families locked inside.

Great narration, but leave out background
Reviewed: 01-20-21
I enjoyed Rene Auberjonois' narration and, generally, his voice choices for the characters. I didn't feel that the background sounds added to the listening experience, and sometimes distracted me from the story.

Classic Romance with a Contemporary Texas Twist
Reviewed: 04-14-19
Two strangers, brought together by an unanticipated baby, join forces to meet the challenges. Through the usual chaos of new baby, miscommunication and misunderstanding ensues. 'Shotgun Wedding' has just enough tension and twists that the reader rides the 'will they or won't they' suspense to find out if all will come out right in the end.
I enjoyed the Kindle version of this book a while back. Recently, I was provided a complimentary link to the new audio version by the author. I thoroughly enjoyed listening to it. The voice actor was excellent, and fit my ideas of the characters so well it made the story come alive. Cadence, inflection, and volume were perfect. I appreciate how professional this work is, since I listen to a lot of audiobooks while traveling or engaged in mindless tasks. Great job all around!
