Loved it. But there is a small but.... The author sometimes has a bit of a simplistic, masochistic and Christian take on the subject. Then again, the world has progressed since this book was written I guess and at some point the age in which it may have been written is evident. I believe the principles mostly still hold validty. Lots of love languages to now watch out for, understand and/or cultivate.

How can you not plunge deep into the depths of the Bachelor fantasy. Sometimes the mirror is the ugly that reflects back to you the beauty of what your actual life really is like. Like amy Kaufman, I believe that is why the Bachelor experiment could be seen as community service to help us refect on our own lives. Amy's brilliant research for this book is clear, and her upbeat but authentic narration makes it a fun listen (because face it...take the topic seriously, but there is no need to take yourself so seriously). From a social and human behaviour point of view, I learnt a heap from this book.

Today millions of kids are stuck in a world that doesn't respect, support, or embrace who they really are - these are what Deborah Reber is calling the “differently wired” kids, the one in five children with ADHD, dyslexia, Asperger’s, and other neurodifferences. Their challenges are many. But now there’s hope. Written by Deborah Reber, a best-selling author and mother in the midst of an eye-opening journey with her son who is twice exceptional (he has ADHD, Asperger’s, and is highly gifted), Differently Wired is a how-to, a manifesto, a book of wise advice, and more.

This is the first book I've listened to after we were made aware that our son is differently wired. And I'm so glad that I listened. It changed my perspective a great deal on the areas I'd need to work on in order to support my son better. Us parents play such an important role in moulding our kids to stand on their own feet, and I've realised that the way in which our 2E kids operate at a different level can be made or broken by our own understanding and undertaking. We need to show up for them. And this book will surely be one of my guides on this journey. Deborah Reder mentions her podcast. I can't find it on Amazon....yet. I truly hope that it will be available soon. Thank you for writing this book!

Story
For many years, Glennon Doyle denied her discontent. Then, while speaking at a conference, she looked at a woman across the room and fell instantly in love. Three words flooded her mind: There. She. Is. At first, Glennon assumed these words came to her from on high but soon she realised they had come to her from within. This was the voice she had buried beneath decades of numbing addictions and social conditioning. Glennon decided to let go of the world’s expectations of her and reclaim her true untamed self.

I am a religious follower of Glennon's We Can Do Hard Things podcast and have been waiting for a long time to listen to her audiobook of Untamed. So many of these stories I have heard on the podcast, but now, listening to her 'becoming untamed' story in totality, has been just what I needed at this specific page turning point in my own life. Glennon is unabashadly unique, and the world needs more brave thinkers and doers. Thank you for sharing your perspective....I have been unwrapping each chapter with gratitude.

Hailed by The New York Times as "a marvel of storytelling", The Things They Carried’s portrayal of the boots-on-the-ground experience of soldiers in the Vietnam War is a landmark in war writing. Now, three-time Emmy Award winner-Bryan Cranston, star of the hit TV series Breaking Bad, delivers an electrifying performance that walks the book’s hallucinatory line between reality and fiction and highlights the emotional power of the spoken word.

It was a privilege to gain these deep insights into the stories that have been locked into Tim O'Brien's mind. Thank you for penning them with down with such authenticity. I won't forget these words: "I write because I guess I'm trying to save Timmy's life." The realities of war stories will live on in books such as these.

I've been in this life for 50 years, been trying to work out its riddle for 42 and been keeping diaries of clues to that riddle for the last 35. Notes about successes and failures, joys and sorrows, things that made me marvel and things that made me laugh out loud. How to be fair. How to have less stress. How to have fun. How to hurt people less. How to get hurt less. How to be a good man. How to have meaning in life. How to be more me.

Uniquely human
Reviewed: 12-30-21
Forgetting who and what Matthew McConaughey is, his story is so unique because of his perspective on life. I have learnt so much personally of who I was, am and want to be just by engaging in his story. Matthew, just as all of us do, deserves to pat himself on the back for the perspective he has maintained throughout his life. We all need to be a little kinder and gentler towards each other, but in order to do that we need to first be kind and gentle to ourselves. I felt that the stories and pits of wisdom he imparts on his readers/listeners have accomplished exactly that....to remind ourselves to always at least try to strive for perspective in any given red light, amber light or green light situation. Loved the lively narration as well. No other narrator could have shone the authenticity of Matthew's soul the same way the man himself can do. I'm damn sad the book is finished.
