Story
Naomi Jackson made a mistake. Born in the tumultuous years following the American Revolution, she embraced change, excitement, and adventure. So, when the devil Bill Williams swaggered into town, she launched into his arms, determined that her love for him could overcome all obstacles. It couldn't. Now, she has two young children, a life of misery, and a hopeless, desperate desire to escape.

Unsatisfying end ☹️
Reviewed: 08-16-21
Though the storyline was engaging & has potential, and the narrator did well in conveying the intended emotion, the characters were too extreme & therefore difficult to believe or invest in.
Devil Bill (villain) had no redeeming qualities whatsoever, while (heroine) Naomi's bright & long-suffering attitude in the face of extreme abuse lacks the desperation & anger that should be generated by such treatment - even if only in her private thoughts.
The ending left no real resolution, good or bad, & was very unsatisfying - kind of a cliffhanger.
I rarely write such a negative review & wish I could give a better rating, but I just can't.

Good story & well-narrated.
The constant change of POV was a little distracting, making it difficult to figure out who to follow with a consistent thread, and who to sympathize with.
But the story was well thought out & very enjoyable to read.

Feared and hunted by the powers in Rome, the lovers choose to die by their own hands as the triumphant armies of Antony's vengeful rival, Octavian, sweep into Egypt. Very enjoyable story that kept true to history for the most part, altering or embellishing only for the sake of clarity.
Narrator's performance was well done, giving a voice to each unique character.
If you enjoy ancient history with a human connection, this novel is highly recommended.

Interesting paranormal plot.
Overall, a quick read.
Characters personalities could have been more developed and engaging. Their behavior and responses were sometimes odd and forced.
A little more research needed, too. (i.e. Lusitania sank 3 years After the Titanic, etc.)
Author has potential. Seems like the story was written quickly and could have been fleshed out to be much more entertaining.
Didn't really draw me in to have empathy for the characters, or rivet me to the storyline. It was short, and I made it to the end.
