Wish I was there....

A great podcast as always. I found out about the Wolf Hall weekend last year ( June 2023) and I wish more than anything I could attend. I was told there will not be any virtual tickets, so I was pretty sad about that. I live in America and due to events in my life this past year, flying over to England is not feasible. I hope and pray one day there will be another event like this that I can make it to. but I will be there in spirit. :)

Story
Henry VIII ruled England from 1509 to 1547. As a young man, he was fond of sports and hunting and was said to be uncommonly handsome. Standing more than six feet tall, he loomed large in the lives and minds of his subjects as he navigated his country through the tricky diplomatic and military hazards of the 16th century.

Aside from being short. I'm not sure where the author researched their references? I,by no means, am a historian or expert, but I have been studying the Tudor era for a couple of years now and I know for a fact that some of the things referenced in this book, completely wrong! for example Henry naming his ship the Anne Boelyn! That that wasn't it, that wasn't it at all! It eventually became a game on how many things were wrong in this book.... Good thing it wasn't a drinking game . I'm slightly baffled that someone actually approved this book being published.

Story
"Good people, I am come hither to die, and by a law I am condemned to the same." These were the heartbreaking words of a 17-year-old girl, Lady Jane Grey, as she stood on the scaffold awaiting death on a cold February morning in 1554. Minutes later, her head was struck from her body with a single stroke of a heavy ax. Her death for high treason sent shock waves through the Tudor world and served as a gruesome reminder to all who aspired to a crown that the ax could fall at any time.

I enjoyed the reading and learning more of Jane Grey. My middle son is 17 and it bring onto perspective on how young she truly was when she was executed and it breaks my heart.

Story
If you were one of King Henry VIII's six wives, who would you be? Would you be Anne Boleyn, who literally lost her head? Would you be the subject of rumor and scandal like Catherine Howard? Or would you get away and survive like Anna of Cleves? Meet them and Henry's other queens - each bound for divorce or death - in this epic and thrilling novel that reads like fantasy but really happened.

why is everyone cranky?

the performances were amazing, I absolutely loved it. The story itself was really good, but the way the men are written in the story kind of rubs me the wrong way. I highly doubt they would have acted the way they did in some scenes. I don't want to say more in fear of spoiling anything. A good read, I recommend it, but as a fan of the Tudor era I'm not happy how the man were written.
