very well done

Overall
5 out of 5 stars

This is a classic 19th century thriller by a woman who was a best-seller in Jane Austen's day - and it's terrific. The abridgement makes the story cleaner and the reader is very engaging, able to render all the voices (including the men) memorably. For a 150 year-old book, this one's a winner.

Unusual radio dramatization

Overall
4 out of 5 stars

Reviewed: 05-16-10

I didn't find the accents difficult to understand and the acting is extraordinarily good for an audio book. The challenge with this dramatization is that it sounds like the soundtrack to a television version: it's often difficult to figure out where we are and who's there. It's from BBC Radio 4 but seems as though it was minimally reedited from a TV version. If you know the story already, this is a very fun experience. If you don't, you may be lost.
