Story
Every driver knows the importance of avoiding potholes. Besides the uncomfortable bump, they can create permanent damage to vehicles and endanger entire roadway systems. In The Thing Beneath the Thing, pastor Steve Carter asks the simple question, “How is life working for you?” He knows that potholes exist and that the longer we live disconnected from answering this question, the more we will fill those holes with harmful choices. The solution? Allow God to fill them with His grace and love so that we can discover the beauty of peace and wholeness He has for us.

Truth in a time when it's so hard to find

Steve Carter uses his gift of communicating to issue a challenge to allow God to reveal what's below all of our protective layers. His vulnerability and honesty about parts of his own story, as well as his knowledge of scripture, present a unique approach to writing that welcomes the reader in as if they are in the presence of a caring friend.

Story
Like financial classics The Latte Factor and The Richest Man in Babylon, The Money Tree uses a compelling story with captivating characters to share its core insight: You are never at the mercy of fortune as long as you have an appetite for hard work and a willingness to step outside your comfort zone.

Key business advice in the form of a narrative.
Reviewed: 07-11-20
I thoroughly enjoyed this book! The author takes a lot of his business knowledge and presents it in the form of a story to purposefully reach a new audience.
He has done this so well, that I am considering it as a read aloud for my sixth grade reading class to introduce nonfiction as a narrative and also act as an overview on social studies economic standards.
Thank you Chris!
