Story
Iris Thomas thought she’d never have to see Sasha Everett again after Sasha seduced her husband and broke up their marriage in a devastating betrayal. But as luck would have it, when Iris’ stepdaughter, Molly, and Sasha’s daughter, Bailey, wind up in the same second-grade class at an elite private school in Los Angeles, they form an instant bond and force the two women back into each other’s lives. Iris wants to put the past behind her and support Molly, but as time goes on, she suspects that Sasha may be guilty of something even worse than adultery....

So predictable
Reviewed: 08-01-22
The story is predictable and so mellow and rosy. No twists and turns, just a story that had a predictable happy ending.

Story
On Zero Day of the first and last cyberwar in human history the internet went dark, transport and power grids collapsed, and cities began to starve. Ten days later millions have died from thirst and starvation, from violence, and from the simple failure of the world’s machines to keep them alive. This second installment of John Birmingham’s End of Days trilogy finds James O’Donnell and his friends Rick, Michelle and Melissa hunkered down in the wilderness, where they know a horde of starving, desperate exiles from the graveyard of the US East Coast is heading their way.

Too hard to follow
Reviewed: 11-22-21
The narrator is one the best ones I’ve listened to. This book got my attention because some of the story includes what would happen if people from the city poured into neighboring communities. It’s hard to follow, though. I think the writer needs more college coursework because for instance he calls an epidemic a pandemic before it can be called that.

The United States of America is falling before the armies of the dead. Tasteless
Reviewed: 10-03-21
The narrator’s raspy voice gets old after a while. The story is cheap and tasteless.

Story
Imagine a blackout lasting not days, but weeks or months. Tens of millions of people over several states are affected. For those without access to a generator, there is no running water, no sewage, no refrigeration or light. Food and medical supplies are dwindling. Devices we rely on have gone dark. Banks no longer function, looting is widespread, and law and order are being tested as never before.

It didn’t age well
Reviewed: 09-06-21
It is a good book that should be updated now that we know how the Americans react to disaster and Rudy Giuliani’s reputation is so bad, the mention of him makes it laughable. Wait to update the book until 9/11 files are declassified, though.

Story
To most people, Fiona Bristow seems to have an idyllic life - a quaint house on an island off Seattle’s coast, a thriving dog-training school and a challenging volunteer job performing Canine Search and Rescue. But Fiona got to this point by surviving a nightmare: an encounter with the Red Scarf Killer, who shot and killed Fiona’s cop fiancé and his K-9 partner.

I enjoy reading stories with a Washington State scenery. I’ve read other Nora Roberts stories and this one felt like I’d read it before, like more of the same.
