Story
Anthony Fauci is arguably the most famous–and most revered–doctor in the world today. His role guiding America sanely and calmly through Covid (and through the torrents of Trump) earned him the trust of millions during one of the most terrifying periods in modern American history, but this was only the most recent of the global epidemics in which Dr. Fauci played a major role. His crucial role in researching HIV and bringing AIDS into sympathetic public view and his leadership in navigating the Ebola, SARS, West Nile, and anthrax crises, make him truly an American hero.

Tony Fauci tells the tale of our country’s struggles with epidemics, but also of his own life of service. He’s funny, humane, and humble. Love the Brooklyn accent.

Story
Most of us are hungry for a system of meaning to make sense of our lives, yet traditional religion too often leaves those seeking spiritual sustenance unsatisfied. Rabbi Toba Spitzer understands this problem firsthand and knows that too often it is traditional ideas of the deity that get in the way. In God Is Here, Spitzer argues that whether we believe in God or fervently disbelieve, what we are actually disagreeing about is not God at all but a metaphor of a Big Powerful Person that limits our understanding and our spiritual lives.

Inspiring book, but reader made errors

I liked this book in many ways, but the reader mispronounced the Hebrew words and in one case said a phrase in Hebrew, then translated it as the opposite meaning in English. This took away from my enjoyment.

Great detail, which creates a sense of how things look, smell. taste. I love being immersed in it. But those who want a thriller might be impatient.
