An indispensable perspective on World War I. Everyone knows the history of the Western Front, but little of the Eastern Front that triggered the war. This well written book redresses the imbalance. The Austrian-Hungarian Monarchy was more than the buffoon so often depicted in Western histories.

Brilliantly written, exhaustively researched, this book explains how and why Kennedy became one of the most powerful names in the history of the United States. There is no way to understand America’s history in the twentieth century since 1938 without reading Ms. Ronald’s book. Riveting.
