The mystery was good. The characters are likeable. The overall relationship arc is fun to follow. In this book you learn much more about Hugh's past. Narrator was good with decent voices and good pacing. I like the series and would recommend starting with book 1.

I really like how the narration enhances the book. The narrator's accent makes Ember's NJ roots come to life. The series is great. The three book audio volumes make this a bargain!

Liked the diverse characters and quirkiness. Plenty of action kept the story flowing through all four books. Left me wanting to know what comes next. Will continue the series. Narration was good as well.

First 3 books in series. It has likeable characters and takes place in an interesting time in history. The cross between wealth and working class is woven into the story as Cleo Fox investigates. The daughter of a disinherited heiress goes to live with her remaining living relatives at the Mayfair Hotel. She interacts with staff as she investigates. The characters are likeable and diverse. There is a hint at a future romance but nothing in the first 3 books. The books are clean historical cozy mysteries. The narration is good. Paced well. I typically listen to audio sped up around 1.25x.

I like the Graphic Audio version of a book I have read multiple times. I also really like the additional Curran POV at the end. It is a great bonus to have it narrated. I liked all the performances in this audio version. I will listen again and hope they add the rest of the series.

I have ebook and original audio. I picked up Graphic Audio version on sale. I am a fan of series and have read and listened multiple times. I really enjoyed the Graphic Audio version. I was able to follow along in the book. I thought all the voices were great. Right now there are only four books available in the full cast audio. I would purchase new releases in this series made by this cast. The audio is very good. The series is one of my favorites as are the authors.

Had this in audio only. First chapters were setting the stage for Charlotte and the case. I did not realize this was a re-imagining of Sherlock Holmes when I started the book. I found the first seven or so chapters to be slow and defining many characters. It was hard to keep engaged with just the audio. I almost stopped listening. The story really picks up around chapter 9. Parallels of the re-imagining become much clearer and the case really takes off. The pacing of the story moves well after that. From chapter 10 on, the story held my interest and kept me engaged until the end. Narration was good. Reader did a good job with pacing. Her voices were good but I did occasionally have difficulty realizing the POV changed with only the audio and had to go back 30 to 60 seconds to figure it out.

This was an enjoyable mystery and new series. The story and characters were reminiscent of the prequel series Glass and Steele. There was some manufactured personal drama and a few too many unknowns left at the end. The overall series arc and the magician mysteries are still completely unknown at the end. Gabe and Sylvia working together to investigate felt very similar to the first books in G and S. Both characters are likeable. I will look for the next book when it comes out. Audio narration was excellent. Well read and paced.

Well written and well narrated. I felt there was too much manufactured drama in the second half of the book. I skimmed and skipped parts after about 60%. I enjoyed the first half of the book and the characters. It may just be me, but the two main characters had way too much drama after they realized they loved the other. It was at least a third of the book. I actually set this on aside for several months.

Story and world building were solid. The main character is competent and likable. The magical world is explained as the story unfolds. There are no info dumps. The interesting characters and events unfold and build complexity into the story arc. The pacing is good and held my interest. Great narrator with good timing and voices. Narration was a little slow so I listened at 1.35x.
