Shauna Lawless is brilliant
Reviewed: 11-14-23
I absolutely love the style, setting, and story of the Gael Song books so far. Shauna Lawless is fast becoming a favorite author. Aoife MacMahon's performance is outstanding as it was in the first book. Aidan Kelly does a great job as well. My only issue is with this is Clara Harte's performance as Gormflaith. Her raw talent seems obvious but her performance seems rushed and unproduced. Quite a few long pauses for no reason that should have been picked up in production and some stumbling on sentences.

Story
A year has passed since the Hell Divers defeated the machines at Kilimanjaro. The freed captives have settled into their new home at the Vanguard Islands, joining survivors from around the world. But extreme weather and failed crops have raised the specter of famine. Ships must push deeper into dangerous red zones, only to come back with less loot - and fewer soldiers.

Worst of the series.

Last writing. Lazy narration. Recycled themes. If the author is tired of writing it he should end it and move on.

Story
Chrissie Hynde, the songwriter and front woman of The Pretenders in its various incarnations, has for 35 years been one of the most admired and adored and imitated figures in rock. This long-awaited memoir tells her life story in full and utterly fascinating detail, from her all-American Ohio '50s childhood to her classic baby-boomer seduction by the rock of the '60s to her sojourn in the crucible of punk that was '70s London to her instant emergence with her band, The Pretenders, in 1980 into stardom as a frontwoman and songwriter.

Loved it.

Great story. I wish it went a little farther but I guess it made sense to end the story when it did. Going up to Learning to Crawl would have been great. The narration was just ok. Some of the phrasing was off and you'd think someone would catch it.

Story
Fourteen outstanding authors. Fourteen worlds that never were. Throughout the human experience, historians have wondered, “What if?” What if Japan had been on the side of the U.S. in World War II? What if things had been just a little different in the Falklands? What if Russia had started World War Three?

Good stories and terrible narration.

The stories are decent but the narration ruins it. Mispronunciations, poor phrasing, and hokey accents take you out of the story.
